Michie, Jonathan / Blasi, Joseph (eds.), Employee Share Ownership and Profit Sharing: A Global Phenomenon. 330 pp. 2025:12 (Routledge, UK) <759-288>
ISBN 978-1-041-12215-9 hard ¥42,746.- (税込) GB£ 145.00

This book presents a comprehensive examination of employee share ownership, profit sharing, and gain sharing practices in contemporary business environments. Drawing from rigorous academic research presented at the prestigious Oxford University-Rutgers University Conference on Shares, it offers valuable insights into how these ownership structures function across different organizational contexts. The collection analyzes both the contextual factors that influence share plans and their measurable impacts on companies and individuals. The volume is organized into two main sections. The first explores the financial, corporate cultural, and social contexts that shape employee ownership programs, including groundbreaking research on earnings management in French companies, workplace spillover theory, financial structures in Spanish worker cooperatives, and critical success factors for fostering ownership culture. The second section provides evidence-based analysis of outcomes and impacts, examining whether these organizational forms deliver concrete benefits for firms and workers.Through careful examination of international case studies and empirical data, the book demonstrates that while employee ownership and profit sharing conceptually align individual rewards with organizational performance, their success depends on appropriate human resource management practices and supportive corporate cultures. The research highlights how these models can address wage stagnation by allowing workers to access returns on capital. This book is essential reading for students, researchers and scholars in management studies, organizational behavior, and labor economics, as well as corporate executives, HR professionals, and policymakers interested in alternative ownership structures. The chapters in this book were originally published in International Review of Applied Economics.

連邦主義とアメリカの最低賃金政策の政治
Rose, Shanna, Raising the Floor: Federalism and the Politics of US Minimum Wage Policy. 256 pp. 2026:3 (U. Chicago Pr., US) <759-289>
ISBN 978-0-226-84656-9 hard ¥25,047.- (税込) US$ 115.00
ISBN 978-0-226-84657-6 paper ¥7,078.- (税込) US$ 32.50

A rich history of the development of American minimum wage policy with lessons for today. Despite broad popular support for robust minimum wage policy, the federal minimum wage is now worth less-in real, inflation-adjusted terms-than at any time since 1949. While some state and local governments have stepped in to fill this void, others have declined to set any minimum wage standard at all. Traversing more than 100 years of history, Raising the Floor examines how interest groups have navigated the highly decentralized American political system to shape the development of federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. In her analysis, Shanna Rose highlights the importance of American federalism. She argues that because federalism creates multiple arenas for policy change, interest groups have sought out the sites most conducive to their goals, shifting their lobbying efforts as new obstacles and opportunities emerge. Federalism has facilitated minimum wage policymaking by fostering policy experimentation, learning, and diffusion across states and by allowing state and local governments to overcome gridlock and status-quo biases at the national level. Yet, federalism has also been an instrument for containment, enabling those opposed to minimum wage increases to litigate and preempt local-level laws. With rich historical chapters that illuminate different phases in the development of today's patchwork of wage standards, Raising the Floor is a deep examination of the past, present, and future of American minimum wage law.

Novianto, Arif, Cheap Labour Regime in Platform Capitalism: How Flexible Accumulation Fuels the Super-Exploitation of Gig Workers. 128 pp. 2025:10 (Springer, GW) <758-254>
ISBN 978-981-9518-40-1 hard ¥27,947.- (税込) EUR 109.99

This book offers a groundbreaking exploration of platform-based labor in the Global South, with Indonesia as its primary case study. Moving beyond familiar accounts of precarious work, this book addresses a central paradox: Why do millions continue to aspire to become platform workers, despite low pay, poor protections, and grueling conditions? Drawing on Michael Burawoy's labor regime theory, the author examines how labor is governed and exploited under platform capitalism. Through a rigorous mixed-methods research design the book identifies five structural pillars of the "cheap labor regime": the persistent oversupply of labor, hyper-competition between platforms, neoliberal state complicity, labor processes engineered for maximum surplus extraction, and the erosion of workers' bargaining power. Indonesia, with an estimated 5 million platform workers, stands as one of the clearest examples of super-exploitation in the digital economy. This book dissects the mechanisms that normalize such conditions, exposing how labor is commodified and discipline enforced not only through economic necessity but also through the architecture of the platforms themselves. This book is essential reading for scholars, students, policymakers, labor organizers, and readers interested in critical perspectives on the future of work. It delivers fresh insights into how digital capitalism shapes labor relations, particularly in the Global South-offering a powerful framework for understanding resistance, inequality, super-exploitation and the enduring allure of platform work.

Cole, Matthew, Unpaid: The Past, Present and Future of Wage Theft. 256 pp. 2026:5 (Verso, UK) <757-378>
ISBN 978-1-80429-566-3 paper ¥5,008.- (税込) GB£ 16.99

An extra 15 minutes work here, another 20 minutes there: wage theft has been described as a silent epidemic blighting the global workforce. And it's on the rise. In the UK and US alone millions of workers put in billions of unpaid hours amounting to tens of billions in wage theft. The problem pervades throughout the world, in every sector of every country, though it is often worse in low and middle-income countries. But what if wage theft, rather than being a modern bug, is a feature of capitalism itself? In this original conceptual and empirical work, political economist Matthew Cole uncovers the long history of wage theft, its contemporary machinations and how to overcome it. There are as many ways to steal wages as there are to pay them. But rather than attribute these practices to the actions of a few nefarious employers, Cole shows how wage theft is baked into the very working of the economy. But it doesn't have to be this way. The modern economy has a history, and we can change it. Unpaid explains why wage theft occurs, how employers get away with it, and what we can do to fight back.

ISBN 978-1-0353-7364-2 hard ¥28,006.- (税込) GB£ 95.00

This timely book examines three impactful changes to the labour market in recent decades: the rapid automation of production processes, surging international trade, and greater cross-border mobility and migration of workers. Expert authors assess how workers have benefited and suffered from these shifts and provide policymakers with recommendations on how to reduce inequality while securing economic benefits.Contributors analyse individual transformations and their interaction with the broader sociopolitical landscape, incorporating both macroeconomic and microeconomic perspectives. They use an interdisciplinary approach to explore the consequences of technological advancements on labour markets, such as automation, digital platforms and artificial intelligence. Chapters also address rising inequality and the divide between skilled and unskilled labour, and the uneven impacts of globalisation that prevent the diversification of economies. Ultimately, the book outlines the need for innovation and a restructuring of systems to ensure a resilient future where talent and skills are not squandered, and potential challenges can be successfully overcome.Technology, Globalisation and Migration is a vital read for scholars and students of economics and finance, innovation and technology, development studies, and sociology. Policymakers and practitioners working in labour market regulation will also benefit from its practical and theoretical insights.

Watkins, Simon, Basic Income, Work Incentives and Job Search Behaviour: Bridging Theory and Practice in European Contexts. (Exploring the Basic Income Guarantee) 198 pp. 2025:10 (Palgrave Macmillan, UK) <754-252>
ISBN 978-3-031-99196-7 hard ¥10,160.- (税込) EUR 39.99

This book analyzes existing welfare regimes across Europe, offering an exploration into how basic income principles might influence job search behaviour. Drawing on time-use data and fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis, it challenges assumptions about work incentives and demonstrates that institutional contexts significantly mediate welfare effects. The analysis develops an innovative "ideal type" framework that measures how existing systems approximate basic income principles, unconditionality, universalism, and non-withdrawal of benefits. Chapters explore the complex relationships between welfare design and job search intensity, with a special focus on providing evidence as to whether conditionality increases job search or if certain configurations of accessibility and high participation tax rates decrease it. Comparing ten European countries and counterfactual examination of Finland and the UK, the book provides empirical grounding for debates often based on theoretical assumptions. The resulting text provides insights for designing context-appropriate strategies for basic income implementation that enhance income security while preserving individual autonomy.

Wang, Dianshuang, Wage Inequality from Agricultural Modernization: A Theoretical Evaluation. 252 pp. 2025:6 (Springer, GW) <751-274>
ISBN 978-981-9668-50-2 hard ¥40,652.- (税込) EUR 159.99

This book integrates the agricultural producer service sector into a three-sector general equilibrium framework to examine the modernization of small-scale agriculture in developing economies. By incorporating agricultural transformation and rural-urban migration dynamics, it presents a theoretical analysis of the determinants of wage inequality between skilled and unskilled labor from multiple perspectives. Over the past few decades, industrialization and urbanization have progressed in parallel, driving the modernization of the agricultural sector. Traditional development economics often conceptualizes agricultural modernization within the context of large-scale operations, assuming that traditional agriculture can directly adopt modern non-agricultural intermediate inputs after some transformations. However, small-scale agriculture-the dominant form in developing countries-follows a distinct modernization path. This divergence manifests in two key ways. First, labor substitution and migration. The introduction of modern intermediate non-agricultural inputs tends to displace agricultural labor, accelerating rural-urban migration. Second, the role of the agricultural producer service sector: Due to the prevalence of small-scale operations, an intermediary sector-the agricultural producer service sector-emerges to facilitate the modernization process. These differences significantly influence intersectoral labor allocation and wage inequality. Given that agricultural modernization, policy shifts, and socioeconomic changes concurrently affect labor allocation, it is crucial to analyze how these exogenous factors shape wage disparities in the presence of agricultural transformation. To model this process, the book establishes a two-layer vertical production structure: non-agricultural goods are partially utilized by the agricultural producer service sector, which then produces intermediate inputs that substitute for agricultural labor. The study focuses on three major factors that profoundly impact rural labor migration and wage inequality: pro-rural policies(mitigation labor market distortion, raising rural public infrastructure, increased agricultural subsidies), FDI and internal remittances, and technological progress (green technological progress and skill-biased technical change). The findings offer novel insights into wage inequality in developing economies and provide a theoretical foundation for formulating development policies.

Blasi, Joseph / Michie, Jonathan (eds.), Employee Ownership and Profit Sharing: Models, Incidence, and Sectors. 325 pp. 2025:8 (Routledge, UK) <750-220>
ISBN 978-1-041-12210-4 hard ¥42,746.- (税込) GB£ 145.00 *

This book explores a quiet revolution reshaping global capitalism: the rise of employee ownership, worker cooperatives, and profit-sharing enterprises. With 17% of US adult workers now holding equity in their companies, a new Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) being established daily in the UK, a mature sector thriving in France, extensive tax incentives in Canada, the continued development of several mature worker cooperative sectors worldwide such as Mondragon, and interest in many other nations, shared ownership is no longer a fringe idea.Authored by leading researchers, this volume presents 16 studies on how equity and profit shares for workers operate-exploring their impact on employees' lives, firm performance, local communities, the racial wealth gap, and the determinants that drive success or failure in such enterprises. This volume is one of the first to examine the emergence of businesses that share financial results with workers as a global phenomenon; it positions this model as a significant development in postindustrial capitalism. With a strong grounding in theory, and a coherent conceptual framework to explain observed behaviors and responses of workers, managers, and firms, this volume offers evidence-based insights that should influence policy in countries around the world. This book will be essential reading for scholars and students in economics, sociology, business, public policy, labor studies, and organizational theory, as well as for policymakers, practitioners, and advocates interested in building more equitable and resilient economies. The chapters in this book were first published in the International Review of Applied Economics.

Mehta, Balwant Singh / Awasthi, Ishwar Chandra, Indian Youth's Journey from Education to Decent Work: Issues and Challenges. (India Studies in Business and Economics) 197 pp. 2025:4 (Springer, GW) <749-194>
ISBN 978-981-9644-74-2 hard ¥33,029.- (税込) EUR 129.99

This book delves into the intricate challenges faced by Indian youth as they enter the labour market. It explores vital aspects of youth's journey from school to the labour market, offering insights into the current status and strategies for harnessing the demographic dividend, bridging the gap between labour market demand and supply, addressing the issue of skill mismatch, and tackling the challenge of inactive or idle youth in India. The book draws from analysing a diverse range of data sources, including statistics from organizations like the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the World Bank's World Development Indicators (WDI); as well as data from surveys such as Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) and Employment-Unemployment Survey (EUS), conducted by the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Government of India; and educational surveys such as Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE), All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE), School Education Quality Index (SEQI) and NSSO's surveys on Household Social Consumption: Education. These data cover a period spanning of over two decades, from 2000 to 2023. The book is a valuable resource for policymakers, researchers, and anyone interested in understanding the complex challenges and opportunities associated with the transition of Indian youth from school to decent employment. This transition is closely linked to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 4 and 8; and with India being home to the world's largest youth population, the book showcases aspects of a critical area of focus for organizations and entities working towards these global objectives.

ISBN 978-1-041-09817-1 hard ¥42,746.- (税込) GB£ 145.00 *

Grounded in "The Race Between Education and Technology," this book uses multisource data to analyse the evolving labour market for college graduates, interpreting how the relationship between humans and automation shifts from competition to coexistence, which is reshaping skill demand, education policy, and labour market in China and abroad. In examining the competition between humans and automation, the authors analyse how automation is pushing graduates out of informal employment, reshaping their career paths, and changing labour market structures. They also explore the impact of automation on skill demand, distinguishing between general and specific skills and highlighting how technological advancements are driving the evolving requirements of the labour market. The discussion then moves from competition to coexistence between humans and automation, highlighting the crucial role of education policy in managing human-automation substitution. The authors contend that rather than simply displacing human workers, automation can be integrated into the workforce in a way that promotes coexistence and even synergy between human skills and technological innovation. This book advances the traditional understanding of the relationship between technology, labour market, and education. It will appeal to scholars and students who are interested in the economics of education and labour economics.

Reich, Michael, The Unexpected Economics of Minimum Wages. 672 pp. 2025 (E. Elgar, UK) <747-362>
ISBN 978-1-0353-5887-8 hard ¥42,746.- (税込) GB£ 145.00 *

This book presents a comprehensive analysis of the effects of minimum wages. Michael Reich's cutting-edge research findings challenge traditional approaches to the topic, exploring the effects of minimum wage policies across different sectors, groups and demographics.Reich examines the effects of minimum wages on pay and employment among the two groups most affected by the policies - restaurant workers and teens - as well as investigating their impact on the lowest-wage areas of the US. He outlines how minimum wages influence parental labor supply, racial inequality, the health of low wage workers and government spending on food stamps and Medicaid. The book further reflects on the extension of pay standards to gig drivers, who are not typically covered by minimum wage laws as independent contractors. It concludes by demonstrating how minimum wages can be absorbed by increasing the supply of workers to low-wage employers, reducing the costs of recruiting and retaining workers and introducing modest price increases, rather than reducing employment. The Unexpected Economics of Minimum Wages is a crucial resource for students, scholars and practitioners of labor economics. Thorough and detailed, it is also key for policymakers and advocates who are working to raise low pay and reduce inequality.

Creating productive jobs for growing a labor force is both one of the world's greatest challenges as well as one of its greatest economic opportunities, and one of the most consequential global megatrends. Nowhere is the job creation challenge more acute than for young people in Africa. In response to this challenge and to also address Africa's structural economic transformation, the Africa Growth Initiative at Brookings has undertaken research on the prospects for large-scale job creation through the development of 'industries without smokestacks' including tourism, agro-processing, horticulture, and services that has revealed a promising path forward. This book is the first to document the potential for non-traditional industries to address the formal sector job creation that is critical for Africa to simultaneously harness its demographic dividend and achieve structural transformation. In the face of premature deindustrialization, many economists have voiced pessimism about Africa's ability to replicate past economic development models. The book also documents the potential of an alternative economic development model for Africa based on industries without smokestacks. Finally, the book suggests practical policy solutions to realize the potential of these industries

In recent years, Africa has witnessed a troubling surge in unemployment among university graduates. This alarming trend is directly linked to the rapid increase in the youth population and in higher education enrolments across the continent. In light of this challenge, a growing chorus of stakeholders?including governments, the private sector and international development organisations?has urged higher education institutions, particularly universities, to take decisive action. One key strategy in this respect is fostering collaboration between universities and businesses. This book draws on multiple case studies to illustrate how leveraging knowledge commercialisation in cooperation with start-ups and companies, facilitating talent transfer, and promoting active academic engagement with industry can significantly bolster the employability of African graduates. Brown, Trent / De Neve, Geert (eds.), The Social Life of Skills in the Global South. (ThirdWorlds) 230 pp. 2025:6 (Routledge, UK) <744-270>
ISBN 978-1-041-02255-8 hard ¥42,746.- (税込) GB£ 145.00 *

This book expands understandings of how skills are defined, acquired, and utilized in Global South contexts. 'Skills' and 'skill development' are increasingly prominent focal points for governments in the Global South and international development bodies. Yet, policymakers and practitioners promoting skill development often overlook the everyday realities of how skills are learned and acquired, and how they are deployed and valued by individuals and communities. Frequently, they ignore the social and institutional barriers that prevent people from using their skills in meaningful or remunerative ways. By focusing on the 'the social life of skills', the chapters in this volume invite a broader conceptualization of skills, their development, and their application in Global South contexts. They explore four main areas of theorization and practice: 1. The social and political processes by which certain types of work - and people - are labeled as 'skilled' or 'unskilled.' 2. The different ways people acquire skills: formal, informal, and nonformal. 3. The political economy of skills and skill development and their imbrication in forms of exploitation and intersecting inequalities. 4. The role of skills in the expression of aspirations, identities, and agency. This book will appeal to students and researchers in the fields of development studies, sociology, anthropology, education, and labor studies, particularly those focusing on the Global South. It will also appeal to policymakers, practitioners, and development organizations working on skill development and vocational training. The chapters in this book were originally published as a special issue of Third World Quarterly.

Out of Poverty provides a comprehensive defence of Third World sweatshops that does not put economic efficiency over people, but instead explores methods of improving the welfare of those in Third World countries. The author explains how sweatshops provide the best opportunity for workers; and how they play an important role in development, leading to better wages and working conditions. Using economic theory, empirical evidence, and historical investigation, Powell argues that the anti-sweatshop movement would harm the very workers it intends to help by creating less-desirable alternatives and undermining development. Including a new chapter on the 2013 Rana Plaza factory collapse in Bangladesh, this revised and expanded second edition also explores how sweatshop wages have changed and how poverty alleviation has progressed in countries with sweatshops in the late 1990s and early 2000s and how boycotting Uyghur forced labor in China differs other sweatshop boycotts.

ISBN 978-1-032-27792-9 hard ¥42,746.- (税込) GB£ 145.00 *

Grounded on an analysis of informalized labour in the urban economy of Dar es Salaam, Processes of Economic Informalization explores the conceptual politics involved in the political construction of the informal economy - diverse economic activities that are not regulated or protected by the state, now estimated to make up more than sixty per cent of all employment worldwide. The author draws attention to the dynamic political, legal, and social processes shaping the formal-informal boundary. Fundamentally, the book argues that 'informal economy' presents a normative and essentially contested concept which is implicated into reconfigurations of legal institutions, labour organization and struggle, and practices of state governance. Based on interviews, ethnographic notes, and a review of policy documents and current academic literature, it illustrates how competing conceptions of the informal economy serve to normalize and justify but also contest specific forms of capitalist accumulation processes and social order. Highlighting the thorny role conceptions of the informal economy play in its construction as well as in its governance, the book makes a timely intervention that challenges conventional positions in the debate on the appropriate regulation of informalized labour. This book will be of interest to students and scholars of global political economy, international relations, labour studies, and development studies. The Open Access version of this book, available at http://www.taylorfrancis.com, has been made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-No Derivatives (CC-BY-NC-ND) 4.0 license.

It highlights the potential for economic growth within the manufacturing sector and how industrialisation can provide employment, build industrial workforce and facilitate labour market opportunities. Government policies and the role of local and regional governments are analysed to examine why certain industrial parks perform better than others. With particular details drawn from Ethiopia's apparel and textile industry, the historical relationship between capitalist development and the labour force is explored to show tensions between maximising profits and ensuring labour rights and better wages. Building an industrial workforce necessitates effective government policies, firm strategies, industrial ecosystems, and productive dialogue and collective learning between government and firms.

The Routledge International Handbook of Deindustrialization Studies is a timely volume that provides an overview of this interdisciplinary field that emerged in response to the widespread decline of manufacturing and heavy industry from the 1980s onward. Edited by prominent figures in the field, the volume brings together many of the leading scholars from a range of countries across the globe to offer a multifaceted overview of deindustrialization and its impact. Deindustrialization has been cited as one of the factors behind the rise of the far right, and to a lesser extent the far left, across Europe, the rise and success of Trumpism in the US, and the Brexit vote as well as the more recent and sudden erosion of UK Labour's 'Red Wall' of the North of England. This collection brings together scholars of deindustrialization around the globe and from a wide variety of academic disciplines including history, sociology, politics, geography, economics, anthropology, literature, arts practice, photography, heritage, and cultural studies. In doing so, the volume explores the roots of deindustrialization across the world, highlights the key themes and issues in the field, illustrates the intersectional and interdisciplinary character of the field, and shows how deindustrialization lies at the heart of many of the key political, cultural, social, and economic issues of our time.Written in a clear and accessible style, the Handbook is a comprehensive interdisciplinary volume for this young but maturing field. The volume is a valuable resource for students, teachers, and researchers interested in industrial decline, closure, and the multifaceted impacts they cause. It speaks to readers across the arts, humanities, and social and political sciences concerned with deindustrialization broadly defined.

Considering decreasing birth rates and increasing rates of life expectancy, the workforce is rapidly aging - resulting in a more age-diverse labor market. So far, research in IWO-psychology has not fully addressed age-related constructs and issues of new work with longitudinal methods representing changes over time more adequately. To enhance predictions for a rapidly aging workforce, this research focuses on the influence of the potentials of actively aging individuals on frequently cited attitudes and behaviors over the working life span. The results suggest that a more differentiated view of age is partially effective in reducing the probability of turnover intention among IT-employees over time, the age-entrepreneurship relation can be clarified by focusing on the inconsistencies of age and the dimensions of human capital partly contribute to engaging in postretirement work. The outcomes have implications regarding the temporality of aging, entrepreneurial generational identity, calling to work and residuals about postretirement work. Qualitative follow-up research addressing the reasons for turnover intention and work activities retirees experienced as calling seems promising.

Winston, Clifford (ed.), Reforming Occupational Licensing in the US: Reducing Social Costs and Increasing Social Benefits in the Legal, Medical, and Financial Services Professions. 155 pp. 2025:1 (Palgrave Macmillan, UK) <736-282>
ISBN 978-3-031-74348-1 hard ¥10,160.- (税込) EUR 39.99 *

Nearly one-third of US workers must obtain a license from a government agency to perform their jobs legally. This impacts employees across all areas, including lawyers, doctors, and accountants, as well as florists, hairdressers, physical therapists, and plumbers. The justification for occupational licensing is that potential consumers allegedly lack the information and knowledge to judge the competence of a service provider. This necessitates a licensing system built to ensure that customers are served by people who have received adequate training and certification in their profession. While there are recognizable benefits of occupational licensing, the training and certification requirements create barriers to entry for employees or those entering the profession. These barriers can limit competition, raise service costs, and restrict consumer access to essential services. Recent empirical work suggests that consumers have incurred these costs without being adequately protected from incompetent or unscrupulous service providers. This book addresses this situation head on. In light of occupational licensing's shortcomings, the authors of this book propose and analyze constructive reforms, assessing their effects on key professions such as law, medicine, and finance. Chapters identify the significant costs of current policies and they recommend practical reforms that rely more on market forces. The resulting book provides new ways to reduce licensing costs without compromising service quality.

The public sector urgently needs more personnel and must actively engage with the labor market to distinguish itself from the private sector. Scholars recommend developing a strong "public service brand" and using sector-specific motives to attract individuals who prefer public sector employment. However, public-specific signaling often fails to attract a diverse range of applicants. This book examines the signaling strategies in public and private job advertisements and explores how the public sector can emulate private sector appeal while balancing personnel policy trade-offs involved with this manipulation. A linguistic analysis of 5,000 public and private job advertisements was performed to reveal significant sectoral differences in word choice and content emphasis. Further, a preregistered online survey experiment measured the intention to apply to job advertisements with varying signaling intensities. Therefore, this book enhances the understanding of recruitment messaging and strategies to bridge public-private sector differences.

ISBN 978-3-031-73041-2 hard ¥10,160.- (税込) EUR 39.99 *

This book introduces readers to "cognitive economics," a rapidly emerging interdisciplinary science built on economic, psychological, and data scientific foundations. Throughout the book, economist Andrew Caplin provides new approaches to help scholars collaborate and solve problems that can shape economic outcomes and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and the real world. Divided into two parts, the first section brings readers up to speed on economic concepts that underlie decision-making mistakes, such as utility functions, subjective beliefs, and costs of learning.
