This book focuses on the human side of organizational culture. The authors approach organizational culture from the perspective of alignment to mission, vision, and values. Using a Lean Six Sigma structure, the sequence of chapters begins with the organization and its structure, then drills through strategic, operational, and tactical levels of process and behavior which establish and grow the overall culture of the organization over time. The book begins with foundational principles of organization, through the necessity of aligning processes and systems to mission and vision, assessment, gap analysis for improvement, prioritization, and chapters on qualitative and quantitative approaches for reducing variation and improving systems and behavior.
Through this book, readers will:
- Learn the foundation and core concepts of the organization
- Discover the "right" focus of shifting the culture of the organization
- Recognize the building blocks of organizational culture and how to integrate them into a successful, customer-focused system of interconnected processes
- Focus on people as drivers of technology, rather than the reverse
- Explore techniques to address the challenges and concerns of today's training and deployment for organizational performance excellence
- Use the chapters as short discussions or training workshops for either internal education or public/private technical education.

This book examines the imperative role of global environmental governance, and the need to incorporate corporate environmental accountability and mechanisms for enforcement, to effectively address the global environmental crisis.
The author, Felix Moses Edoho, Sr., examines the issues at the various global, national, and regional levels. In Part I the book examines the issues at the global level and looks at the impact of transnational corporations (TNCs) and globalization on the global environmental crisis. Furthermore, it also examines the efforts of the United Nations in initiating global environmental architecture to tackle the crisis. Part II considers the issues at the national level and focuses on Nigeria. The author explores Nigeria's regulatory and institutional framework for environmental governance and implementation. Lastly, at the regional level in Part III, the discourse centers on how decades of oil exploration and production have unleashed monumental ecological tragedies in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria due to the lack of corporate environmental accountability.
This book will be of great interest to academics and students who are interested in broadening their knowledge of environmental governance and policy in developing countries. It will also be of value to environmental regulatory agencies and public administrators, development professionals, and TNCs.

As identified by Bloomberg Government, the best-performing federal contractors all lobby Congress. We might guess that intuitively. The common perception of Washington, DC, as an insider's game, persists, and it makes sense that the winners lobby. However, focusing only on best-performing contractors limits the view of what unfolds through congressional lobbying or, more importantly, could unfold for even more companies-if they only recognized that they also have access to Congress. The tools of congressional influence are available to every company, yet the overwhelming majority of federal contractors eschew the opportunity to lobby Congress. Sadly, it's not just that companies often don't know how. It's worse; they don't know why lobbying Congress can be helpful.
Defense represents the most significant portion of the federal budget annually reviewed and approved by Congress. As such, it's a valuable case study to understand what may contribute to a concentration of winners that garner federal contracts. Any company can learn by understanding more about lobbying in the defense industry.
The inability or unwillingness to integrate lobbying into a sales strategy stems from hubris, ignorance, and lack of imagination. Thinking, "I've got this," and relying on their wits and narrow networks, too many defense executives struggle to gain real traction and consistently win large contracts. The result? The biggest winners aggregate at the top of the defense industrial base pyramid while the hundreds of thousands of "others" are left to wonder what just happened and why it's so hard.
This book focuses on those who do not lobby. It's almost too easy to conclude the system is unfair, unlikely to change, and populated by well-connected insiders who move through the revolving door. Digging a little deeper, this book reveals that the real challenge to more democratized access to Congress is within our reach-if we could only see it!

Leadership is a risky business. In the current world, change is the new normal and only constant. As change grows, so does risk. Thus, leaders must be master change agents and master mitigators of risk. But, how will leaders succeed if they don't measure and lack insight? Simply put, they won't. Those that are successful in these arenas will ride the waves of success during their tenure on the leadership stage.
In contrast, their counterparts will be crushed by the never-ending waves of disruption. Often leaders or those aspiring erroneously view leadership power from a self-interested perspective. They see power through the lens of a title, position, control over others, influence, emotional intelligence and the like. Unfortunately, this view is misaligned and short sighted. Another perspective of leadership is the ability to impact positive change for those around you. In reality, leaders are those that use their gifts, skills and knowledge to educate and empower others in the long run.
The purpose of this book is to unveil insight as to the true meaning of leadership power - how to attain it, how to leverage it to add the greatest amount of value to humanity, how to weaponize it to marginalize and eliminate risk and how to share it with others so they can carry the torch once you step off the leadership stage.
In this book, readers will learn:
- How to master the art of change
- The value of leadership self-advocacy
- The pearls and pitfalls of leading integration teams
- The unintended consequences of sharing knowledge
- The sidewinder effect of misinterpreting root causes of success
- The leadership test of humility
- Leadership matchmaking to ensure the right leaders are selected to solve the organization's problems
- Leadership Loopholes: The Houdini Effect
- The risk of underestimating leadership value
- The risk of not focusing on the right attributes
- The risk of leading turnarounds

This book is about the primary symptoms present in a dysfunctional culture that could have devastating outcomes for any organization. The book outlines each of the seven sins in each chapter.
Each of the first seven chapters (Chapters 1-7) starts with a famous quote related to each of the sins and then immediately recounts stories ripped from the headlines describing well-known corporate failures but with a personal touch from former employees who experienced those stories from inside the company. (The sources for these stories are all cited in their Bibliographies).
The seven sins of organizational culture are linked with seven different corporate scandals that serve as a "lesson learned" as well as seven stories of organizations that have been successful with each respective organizational attribute as follows:
- Flawed Mission and Misaligned Values uses WorldCom as the lesson learned and Patagonia as the success case
- Flawed Incentives uses Wells Fargo as the lesson learned and Bridgeport Financial as the success case
- Lack of Accountability uses HSBC as the lesson learned and McDonald's as the success case
- Ineffective Talent Management uses Enron as the lesson learned and Southwest Airlines as the success case
- Lack of Transparency uses Theranos as the lesson learned and Zappos as the success case
- Ineffective Risk Management uses the 2008 mortgage industry collapse as the lesson learned and Michael Burry as the success case
- Ineffective Leadership summarizes all of the foregoing sins as failures of Leadership
In each chapter and for each organizational sin, the author offers seven attributes of a healthy culture to counter the cultural dysfunction. The seven healthy attributes for each of the seven sins are all original content.
In Chapter 8, the author offers an approach for assessing an organization's culture by providing seven ways to measure the different drivers of organizational culture. The ideas for how to measure corporate culture is original content, with some references to existing frameworks (all cited in the Bibliography),
Finally, in Chapter 9, the author offers a step-by-step outline for transforming the culture. The chapter starts with a story about how Korean Air suffered multiple crashes due to their corporate culture but were able to successfully transform their culture. (The source for the Korean Air story is cited in the Bibliography).
There are seven appendices, most of which are by the author except for the maturity of risk management, which references an OECD (government entity) risk management maturity framework.

The world and its business environments are in a state of constant change. The reality today is that organizations and their leaders are faced with increasingly daunting demands for change and, unless they build organizations that can keep pace with these fast-changing environments, it will be a challenge simply to survive while, at the same time, continuing to thrive and embrace uncertainty and disorder.
One effective example of a world-renowned company that survived an existential crisis to become one of the most iconic companies in the world: The LEGO Group. In Building a Global Learning Organization (CRC Press, 2014), the authors showed how to develop and implement a global structure for learning based on the TWI (Training Within Industry) methods. In that book, you learned how the LEGO Group worked on business transformation through changes in organizational learning systems, including new ways of working and other Lean transformational initiatives. Great organizations have used that book as a benchmark for global and national rollouts of TWI programs and standard work initiatives.
In this book, you get inspiration on how the LEGO Group met these challenges by developing and implementing a framework for transformations to create a common approach to designing, leading and anchoring change in an effective and impactful way. You get insights into the journey which began by designing the LEGO Way of Change, the process of testing the approach in a bigger transformation which, based on pilot learnings, was implemented in transformational initiatives. This book outlines some of the approaches that the LEGO Group implemented in order to ensure change would be both successfully implemented and sustained, including in-depth guides on impactful interventions with both leaders and people in the organization.
The author discusses personalizing and navigating change as well as designing change in the organization and measuring its impact. You will continue learning more from specific real-life case studies from business leaders focused on different kinds of transformation, from reshaping functional teams to optimizing lead time through improved ways of working.
When it comes down to it, change is about the people side of the equation. It is easy to change strategy, process, or technology, but it is harder to change individuals, people, and their behaviors. This book will provide inspiration and guidance on how to bring the people side of change into play in an effective and impactful way.

This textbook provides students with the skills and techniques necessary to analyse business case studies from a strategic perspective. With career development and impact in mind, the book goes beyond simply listing tools, instead teaching students how to prepare for a major strategic business case analysis project, how to position their analysis on a spectrum from reductionist to holistic approaches, how to critically engage with theory and case data, as well as how to leverage their work after completion.
A logical approach is offered, taking the reader through the analysis journey, from preparing to analyse a case study to conducting the analysis and maximising the impact going forwards. A comprehensive analysis task is incorporated, which asks the reader to reflect on a range of case data, understand the choices of analytical positioning and tool selection, and develop an analysis based on this positioning. Further pedagogical features include:
- Reflective practice exercises at the end of chapters, allowing the student to self-identify areas of strength and weakness as they develop through the process
- Worked examples based on cases reproduced in the book, allowing the student to follow the analytical process that the author went through in different analysis modes
- Quotes and analysis insights from former students who have previously conducted a strategic business case analysis, aiding reflective practice
As case study analysis continues as a core component of teaching across business schools, this unique text will help to build key skills in advanced undergraduate, postgraduate, MBA, and executive education students conducting strategic business case analysis. Support material includes PowerPoint slides as well as video content.

In a world that is increasingly wary of artificial intelligence (AI), this book explores the pressing need for strategic communicators to move away from being advocates for AI and move towards a more critical activist role that enables them to counter AI-driven threats to communities and relationships.
AI is contributing to inequality, misinformation and environmental damage, among other problems. This book argues that strategic communicators are uniquely placed to help counter AI-driven challenges because of their skills in relationship-building and their ability to craft and deliver messages effectively. By discussing the different professional activist approaches that communicators can take in relation to growing AI challenges, the book offers multiple perspectives that will help to build knowledge in diverse settings and develop practice, especially in community and activist strategic communication.
Research-based and combining theory with practice, this thought-provoking book will be welcomed by strategic communication scholars and practitioners alike eager to develop a critical approach to the challenges surrounding AI.

This new volume, Post-Disaster and Post-Conflict Tourism, now going into its 2nd edition, takes an in-depth look at how global geopolitical tensions and global threats affect the tourism industry and offers tools and strategies for meeting these challenges.
The book is updated with chapters that include new research, studies, and experiences, many of which consider the fall-out from the COVID-19 pandemic on tourism. It also includes five brand new chapters, for over 50 new pages of text.
With chapters by well-versed scholars who have worked as experts in post-disaster and post-conflict tourism, the book presents a host of case scenarios along with innovative strategies that can be implemented by postcolonial, post-conflict, and post-disaster destinations to encourage travel and tourism in these areas. Topics include using tourism as a vehicle for economic recovery, educating tourists at the pre-visit stage, developing and employing postcolonial branding and self-branding, using sports tourism and food events as a marketing strategy, the ethics revolving around post-disaster consumption, and much more. The new chapters discuss tourism in the age of the coronavirus pandemic and its dramatic disruptive effect on the tourism industry. The authors delve into post-COVID tourism marketing, health and wellness education and practices, ethical considerations for tourism operators, and more. A chapter also considers the challenges of sustainable supply chain management in tour operations.
With contributions from experts in this emerging field, this volume is a rich resource for travel and tourism professionals, policymakers, researchers, and others. It creates a bridge between the conceptual discussions around "dark consumption" (tourism directed to places that are identified with death and suffering) and the urgency to develop empirical models that support destination marketing organizations in a rapidly changing world.

Responding to the rapidly changing business landscape (including advances in social media and information technology) and the COVID-19 pandemic where customers, visitors, or tourists have become more connected, accessible, and informed than ever before, many brands and firms are investing in brand management and brand co-creation. This new volume provides an enlightening perspective on brand co-creation, brand management, and branding through contemporary conceptual discussions and empirical research studies from thought leaders. Providing a step-by-step guide to the brand co-creation and branding process in the hospitality and tourism industry, the volume identifies cutting-edge measurements, strategies, and metrics for capturing and measuring brand co-creation and highlights best practices in implementing brand management marketing strategies.
Starting with a basic understanding of brand (value) co-creation, the volume then explores deeper by defining the concept, describing the ways to measure it, and providing several strategies to capitalize on it. The authors emphasize the interrelationship of these concepts and how they manage brand co-creation. The book illustrates the concepts with examples from around the globe.
Topics cover the impact of social media on brand co-creation during the COVID-19 outbreak in the tourism industry, co-branding emerging tourist destinations, analysis of the content of hotel websites, creating better customer value, brand co-creation in e-sports gaming events, post-COVID-19 educational tourism, and more. The volume also presents a chapter on the state-ofthe-art role of augmented reality and virtual reality in improving the customer experience.
A synthesis of a decade-long effort in brand co-creation, the book will be valuable to academics, practitioners, consultants, destination management organizations (DMOs), and managers looking to improve brand co-creation pre-, during-, and post-pandemics.

This book explores the concept of authenticity in tourism through the analysis of six tourist sites in Guangdong Province and Macau, China.
Through a review of tourism literature, it develops the concept of pseudo-authenticity in which tourist sites and cultural products function to give signs of authenticity for tourists. This is achieved through the influence of media, authentic fakery, and facadism. Readers will gain greater insight into tourist sites in China that operate through cultural preservation, the miniaturization of cultural assets, and the replication of foreign signs through reproductions of foreign cities. The authors outline the tourist sites, an aesthetic analysis, on-site interviews with tourists, and an examination of online reviews of the sites.
This is a useful work for scholars and students of tourism studies in China and around the world, especially those concerned with issues of authenticity and the effects of commodification on cultural assets.

This insightful edited collection brings new insights and a novel approach to entrepreneurship education by situating findings within the Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries, exploring pedagogies associated with both academic and professional entrepreneurship to further the field.
Drawing on experiences and best practices within the CEE countries (such as Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia), the book takes a comparative slant and addresses the call for a pragmatic and critical approach to entrepreneurship pedagogy, offering a systematic review of effective methods and tools introduced at various levels of entrepreneurship education and across disciplines. Highly cross-disciplinary and spanning all levels of formal education, the contributions address long-associated challenges to entrepreneurship education such as the advancement of an entrepreneurship pedagogy that teaches both for, and through, entrepreneurship, as well as difficulties surrounding the teaching of an entrepreneurial mindset, competence, and the collation of knowledge in the field more widely.
This volume will be of pivotal interest to researchers, scholars, and post-graduate students in the fields of entrepreneurship education, international and comparative education, and pedagogy more broadly. Those specifically looking at the development of education in the CEE countries will also find the book valuable.
