Chapters adopt diverse theoretical and practical perspectives, analysing both the contemporary and future relevance of change studies. Moving beyond instrumental models and towards ethical understandings of the subject, the book is divided into four thematic parts: change towards meaningful futures, change through connection and collaboration, change as social and systemic practice, and change as inquiry, play and praxis. Contributors consider organisations as part of a broader ecosystem in the Anthropocene, presenting new and exciting pathways for studies of organisational change theory.
Scholars and researchers in organisation studies and change management seeking novel approaches and challenging research questions will greatly benefit from the book's forward-looking insights. Its practical suggestions will be of equal interest to change professionals, consultants, and practitioners, as well as leaders engaged in organisational transformations.

This book is for organizational leaders who recognize the growing impact of stress and trauma on workforce performance and employee capacity. It provides a clear understanding of trauma, the extent of it in the workforce, and how to address it in the context of work without needing anyone to share stories or past trauma. It enables leaders to confidently approach this topic without worrying about making things worse or taking on the role of therapist. This book explains how to create workplaces where people can perform at their best rather than managing around what they are carrying. Leaders who apply the principles not only lead better but can also build more resilient, productive, and high-performing organizations.
Unresolved trauma can present as reduced voice, absenteeism, disengagement, conflict avoidance, overwork and over-accommodation, underperformance, and other observable workplace behaviors that most leaders currently misattribute to motivation or character. Grounded in the latest organizational research and evidence-based trauma-informed practice, this book is actionable, practical, and encouraging. It incorporates real-world examples, practical exercises, and case studies specific to leadership contexts. It guides leaders through a reflective and sometimes challenging process, helping them apply the framework's principles to support their teams without clinical training or therapeutic expertise. Mini-cases, tips, steps, and examples are part of each chapter. This book also addresses the connection between values-driven leadership, organizational culture, and the conditions that allow people to do their best work.
This book is written for business leaders and a management audience and is also highly relevant to those from executive coaching, leadership development, and the therapy and counseling fields.

Drawing from diverse disciplines, including sociology, anthropology, geography and the environmental humanities, the contributors demonstrate how different traditions cross pollinate and enrich tourism theorization. They explore the relational, dynamic and often 'messy' nature of these theories, highlighting how they are shaped by evolving relations of becoming, tension and controversy. Addressing future-oriented ideas, the Research Handbook argues for the role of theory in exploring, expanding and experimenting with what defines tourism, what it ought to be and what it could become.
The Research Handbook on Tourism Theories is a valuable reference for graduate students and researchers who approach tourism from social science and humanities perspectives. It is especially relevant for those working within the anthropology and sociology of tourism as well as tourism geography, where deep theoretical reflection is central to the discipline.

Turn foresight into action with practical tools for strategic decision-making in uncertainty
In a world where the future arrives faster than planning cycles, leaders face a critical 'Decision Gap' between knowing what might happen and making confident choices today. From Foresight to Action by Joana Lenkova solves this problem by transforming futures intelligence into concrete strategic action.
From Foresight to Action provides five Strategic Future Labs that function as flight simulators for decision-making under uncertainty. Each Lab addresses critical strategic questions through plausible scenarios, dilemmas, and practical tools. Readers will build a complete Futures Strategy Canvas, where choices across customer, product, risk, innovation and strategy are brought together into a coherent, outside-in view.
In the book, you'll find:
- Five standalone Strategic Future Labs with practical tools including The Future Relevance Assessment (framing decisions on product relevance under future conditions), The Strategic Decision Tree (helping leadership teams turn important external forces into explicit choices), and The Future Opportunity Mapping (translating future pressure into opportunity spaces)
- A complete outside-in strategy model connecting future customers to products, opportunities, strategies, and organisational capabilities
- Actionable checklists and 'Next moves' guidance applicable immediately to your own strategic challenges
- Frameworks for understanding decision patterns, cognitive biases, and risk posture in strategic choices
- Practical methods for embedding foresight into culture, leadership, governance, and planning processes to build continuous strategic adaptation
Ideal for executives, managers, strategists, leaders, and decision-makers across organisations, From Foresight to Action transforms the way you approach strategy by treating the future as something you shape, not something that happens to you, providing the practical tools to make better decisions in an uncertain world.
"One of the most thoughtful books on foresight I've read in a long time, connecting futures thinking directly to real decisions."
-Lia Arvidsson, Futurist, H&M Group
"Not theory dressed up as strategy - this is a playbook for leaders making decisions without perfect information."
-John Sanei, Futurist and Global Keynote Speaker

A practical and accessible approach for how to plan for and complete a consumer insights research project from the initial request for proposal (RFP) to the final presentation of findings, this second edition handbook features new real-world examples and techniques and a new chapter on the uses of the latest research technologies and AI.
Danielle Sarver Coombs flips the typical model presented in research methods textbooks to emphasize that data should be used to understand people as thoughtful, deliberative audiences. As such, consumer insights research should be done with the goal of better understanding target audiences in a meaningful way. With this orientation in mind, these insight-driven research projects allow decision makers to tap into consumers' wants, needs, and desires through messaging and products designed to resonate.
Guided by the author's own experience in the field as well as guidance from current practitioners on the client, boutique, and agency sides, this book offers an accessible, thorough, and compelling perspective on how to plan for and complete consumer insights research projects from the initial RFP to the final presentation of findings. Each chapter includes a guide for how to conduct in-class research, quotes and recommendations from experts in the field, and case studies and real-world examples.

The first signs of corporate collapse rarely appear in balance sheets.
They appear in latency. They appear in hiring delays, in meetings that solve nothing, and in the weeks it takes to make a decision that a machine could have made in seconds.
For the last century, business moved at the speed of human cognition. We gathered data, deliberated, and executed. That cycle took quarters. Today, AI has compressed that cycle to hours.
Historically, organizational design has always accounted for latency, but only within the constraints of a human-centric hierarchy. Today, the fundamental unit of the enterprise has changed. An organization is no longer just a collection of people; it is a complex network of nodes, some human, some autonomous AI agents. To build for this reality, traditional management theory must be re-evaluated. We must now look to system architecture and human-computer interaction, hardwiring their rigorous principles of latency and data flow directly into organizational design.
In No One Works Here, Paul Cheek, MIT Senior Lecturer, software engineer, and entrepreneur, delivers a provocative and urgent roadmap for the post-human organization. He argues that we are witnessing a fundamental shift in the physics of business: moving from an era where humans do the work to an era where humans design the intent.
This book redefines how we think about the structure of work, the meaning of enterprise, and the future of capitalism itself. Similarly, it presents how incumbent organizations and economies have a new threat presented in the opportunity for underdog companies and economies to leapfrog them. It is both a visionary manifesto and a practical playbook for the AI era...one that reframes not only how we build organizations, but how we define them.
This is not a book about mass unemployment. It is a manual for the greatest organizational design pivot since the Industrial Revolution.
Inside, you will discover:
- The Latency Trap: Why the most dangerous metric in your company isn't burn rate, it's the time cost of human involvement.
- The New Operating System: How to build AI-Driven Enterprises that allow your organization to run, learn, and optimize while you sleep.
- From Operator to Architect: A tactical guide for leaders who need to stop working in their business so they can start programming it.
The companies that thrive in this new age will be the ones that delegate cognitive work to intelligent systems. The ones that die will be the ones that insist on keeping a human in the loop for decisions that were obsolete yesterday.
For companies competing on scale and speed, you are now on borrowed time from your last human-gated decision. This book is your guide to buying that time back.

This book examines the justification for taxation and identifies the ethical tax issues. It also provides a blueprint for tax reform and advises on tax policy. At one end of the spectrum, any tax legislation is legitimate if the country has a democratic system of government because the peoples' representatives have voted for it. At the other end of the spectrum, no tax can be justified on philosophical grounds because all governments are bands of thieves. A middle position is that taxation can generally be justified, but that some taxes are better than others, either from a utilitarian or deontological perspective. If a tax that is transparent and visible is better than a tax that is obscure or hidden, why are so many taxes obscure or hidden? There is a general belief that everyone must pay their "fair share" of taxes, but the term "fair share" is conveniently undefinable. Is a graduated income tax morally justifiable, or would some other approach be better? Could/should the income tax be replaced with a consumption tax, or should a consumption tax be viewed as a supplement to an income tax? Should the purpose of taxation be to raise revenue, or should the tax system also be used to alter behavior by taxing "bad" things like alcohol and tobacco products or subsidizing green energy initiatives? This book explores some of these questions.

The author of this book discusses and addresses the issues of management and organizations by employing cross-culture and organizational culture perspectives. This approach, merging cross-cultural management and organizational culture research, advances the reader's knowledge of the role culture plays both inside and outside the organization in management and organizations. Despite a large volume of existing work on cross-cultural management and organizational culture, these cultural studies have focused on either societal culture or organizational culture. As a result, cross-cultural management and organizational culture research have developed separately, even though societal and organizational culture are closely connected and their interplay has a significant effect on management and organizations.
The author elaborates on the cross-culture and organizational-culture perspective and the gaps between them, which he views as a reason that the two streams of cultural studies in management have not converged into the cultural studies of management. He discusses managing multinational corporations, among other management and organizational issues, in terms of the cross-culture or organizational-culture perspective, or both, seeking to combine the separate cultural studies of management into the cultural studies of management.

The operator-tested framework for leading AI transformation as a talent strategy
Most enterprise AI initiatives fail because organizations treat them as technology rollouts rather than talent management challenges. In Workforce Intelligence: The People-First Playbook for Leading Your Company Through AI Transformation, OneDigital co-founder Mike Sullivan and Chief Product Officer Vinay Gidwaney introduce an operating model that treats the workforce as a composed capacity of human judgment and machine capability, orchestrated together.
Built from the authors' experience scaling OneDigital to a $1.7 billion enterprise serving 100,000 employers, Workforce Intelligence traces the evolution from Personnel Management to Human Capital Management to the new discipline of WI. The book delivers real client situations, internal operating metrics, and a tested management philosophy forged under private-equity scrutiny.
Ultimately, you'll learn how to pass the "Humanity Test": When confronted with the option of reinvesting returns from AI in the people who built your business or pocketing the excess margins, you'll know the best option is the first one - and exactly how to execute it. You'll also find:
- A historical arc showing why each workforce management transition required a new philosophy, not just new tools
- Named scenes and real client situations illustrating how the Workforce Intelligence framework operates in practice
- Guidance for CHROs on positioning people leadership, not technology teams, as the owner of AI transformation
- A measurement framework designed to withstand board-level scrutiny when justifying AI-driven workforce investments
- Practical direction for people managers who need to act on AI-related workforce changes starting Monday morning
Written for HR leaders, CHROs, benefits executives, CEOs, and people managers at mid-to-large employers, Workforce Intelligence provides the operational framework and management philosophy needed to lead AI transformation as a people strategy rather than a technology deployment.

'My view is that the future belongs to the minority of businesses that follow this advice.' Rory Sutherland, Vice Chairman, Ogilvy Group
As fears of agentic obsolescence abound, organizations are struggling to implement AI in ways that enhance rather than replace human work. This unique book introduces a full-stack approach that balances technological capability with human values, ethics and practical applications.
AI at Work provides a framework that moves beyond scattered AI experiments toward a coherent strategy that will run throughout your entire company. Rather than focusing on technical capabilities or dystopian warnings, it utilizes a full-stack approach to harness AI's benefits while preserving what matters most - a firm's people, its values and its unique organizational identity.
The global AI market is projected to reach $1.8 trillion by 2030, with organizations across sectors racing to implement AI solutions. However, whilst 83% of executives report that AI is a top priority for their organization, only 23% have a comprehensive implementation strategy.
This book fills a critical gap between theoretical AI books and technical implementation guides by offering:
? A practical framework applicable across industries;
? Equal emphasis on technological capability, ethical considerations and real-world applications;
? A human-centred approach that addresses concerns about AI replacing workers; and
? Case studies and examples from diverse sectors.

This book looks at how Japanese companies approach sustainability amid current global challenges. It takes a close look at the cultural background to these efforts including the importance of nature in Japanese society and how it has influenced modern day sustainability programmes. The book does not argue that Japan has been free of environmental problems or that all Japanese companies have the same approach. Nor does it assert that Japanese companies or a Japanese approach is perfect. Instead, it provides some hints about why a Japanese approach-style may just be the way forward in these difficult times. What can Western business leaders learn from Japanese culture and the Japanese leadership mindset? We live in a time of radical uncertainty. The future risks of climate change are more than well known. But they are being suppressed by both politics and business. Science and physics are very clear.
Nature-positive means more than just minimising the damage. For business leaders, it also means giving something back to nature and seeing this contribution not as a cost, but as an investment. This book is a journey of transformation of companies. And a journey through the mountains and nature. Over the centuries, Japanese culture has developed a deep respect for natural systems. And from this, it has also developed a logic for business that considers companies, society and nature in equal measure. It is a must-read for companies struggling to maintain a positive balance sheet and remain sustainable at the same time, in the backdrop of climate crisis and mitigating regulations.

This book is dedicated to the four major types of return-to-work personnel movements: returning after time spent at another company, after long-term sick leave, after parental leave, and returning to an operational role following a period in a leadership position. These four reboarding scenarios are currently underrepresented in the professional literature. However, all four are essential for life-phase-oriented HR management and effective retention management. The book serves as a valuable practical guide for HR professionals and leaders, enabling them to implement these strategically important measures in a solution-focused way within their organizations.
