Milios, John,
Nation, Imperialism and Capitalism: A Critique. (Routledge Frontiers of Political Economy) 256 pp. 2026:5 (Routledge, UK) <763-178>
ISBN 978-1-041-00138-6 hard ¥44,181.- (税込) GB£ 145.00
Exploring the interdependence of capital accumulation with imperialist tendencies and nationalism, this book investigates the workings of contemporary capitalism.By systematically addressing nationalism and the imperialist tendencies inherent in capitalist social formations - to expand economically, politically and ideologically beyond their state territory - the book poses questions such as Does nationalism fuel imperialism? Or, in the case of less developed countries, is it an obstacle to the imperialist policies of the big powers and international capital? Does nationalism necessarily encourage irredentism and ethnic cleansing? Is the nation an outcome of the historical era of capitalism as a system of class domination and exploitation? Conversely, can nationalism ever be a vehicle for the social liberation of the working classes in the era of 'globalisation' and 'financialisation'? In addressing these questions the book highlights class relations of domination and exploitation, the contradictions of their expanded reproduction, the increasing role of finance, and the economic and geopolitical imbalances and conflicts that characterise current international relations. The book will be of great interest to readers in the social sciences across economic history, history of economic thought, political economy, Marxist theory, political science, state theory, international economics and development studies.

Rochon, Louis-Philippe (ed.),
History of Post-Keynesian Economics. 292 pp. 2026:3 (Routledge, UK) <763-179>
ISBN 978-1-041-23694-8 hard ¥44,181.- (税込) GB£ 145.00
This book commemorates a pivotal moment in economic thought-the 50th anniversary of Alfred Eicher and Jan Kregel's groundbreaking 1975 article in the Journal of Economic Literature that boldly announced a "new paradigm in economics" and marked the first journal publication to carry the post-Keynesian label. What began as an academic declaration has evolved into a influential school of economic thought that continues to shape policy debates and theoretical frameworks worldwide. However, the story of post-Keynesian economics extends far beyond its Anglo-American origins. While existing scholarship has predominantly focused on developments in the United States and England, this comprehensive volume breaks new ground by exploring how post-Keynesian ideas emerged, adapted, and flourished across diverse global contexts. From European innovations to developments in emerging economies, this collection reveals the rich, untold history of how post-Keynesian thought took root in different intellectual and institutional environments around the world. This book will be beneficial for graduate students, economists and scholars interested in heterodox economic thought and the history of economic ideas. Policy makers and practitioners interested in alternative economic frameworks will also find valuable insights into how post-Keynesian ideas have been implemented and adapted across different national contexts. The chapters in this book were published in Review of Political Economy.

R.スキデルスキー著 現代のためのケインズ
Skidelsky, Robert,
Keynes for Our Times. 192 pp. 2026:5 (Yale U. Pr., US) <763-180>
ISBN 978-0-300-28683-0 hard ¥6,283.- (税込) US$ 28.00
From John Maynard Keynes's foremost biographer, an illuminating look at how the economist's ethical approach can be used to address today's pressing problems John Maynard Keynes (1883-1946) was arguably the most important economist of the twentieth century; his ideas have fundamentally altered the way governments approach economic policy. Exploring the enduring relevance of his ideas, Robert Skidelsky emphasizes Keynes's conception of economics as a moral science. Keynes was deeply invested in the broader societal implications of economic policies, and this book highlights his belief in economics as a tool for achieving the good life. Skidelsky sheds new light on Keynes's views on capitalism, discusses his advocacy of low interest rates, and delves into his thoughts on economic instability. He also offers fresh insight into Keynes's ideas about money, his philosophical foundations, and his unique approach to uncertainty and probability. Ultimately, Skidelsky shows how Keynes's vision of an economic policy that prioritizes the common good can be adapted to help solve our current economic and political challenges.

Tortorella Esposito, Guido / Figuera, Stefano,
The Medieval Debate on Money and Interest: A Comparative Perspective on Ethics and Economics. (Routledge Studies in the History of Economics) 200 pp. 2026:4 (Routledge, UK) <763-181>
ISBN 978-0-367-70490-2 hard ¥44,181.- (税込) GB£ 145.00
This book examines the medieval debate on the role of money and credit in the Islamic and Western Christian worlds.Starting from Aristotle's vision of the ethical and egalitarian use of wealth, fundamental to both Islamic and Christian thinkers, it highlights how the two visions of money and credit share a strong ethical-religious foundation. However, thinking on monetary and credit matters in the Western Christian and Islamic worlds has developed differently, partly due to the different evolution of the two economic systems. In Islamic economic thought, particular attention has been paid to the prohibition of paying interest on loans, the main basis for which lies in the Qur'an and the Sunnah. This has had interesting repercussions both on the development of the socio-economic system and on theoretical thinking. In the Western Christian world, too, this prohibition was based on ethical and religious grounds. Taking an Aristotelian perspective, the writings of the Thomists and the Franciscan and Augustinian schools reiterated the need for an ethical assessment of credit and interest. This resulted in a significant contribution to the process of secularisation of economic science and valuable theoretical support for important institutional developments. This book will be of great interest to readers of Islamic and Christian ethics, the history of money and, more generally, the history of economic thought.
