Turn cyber intelligence into meaningful business decisions and reduce losses from cyber events
Cyber Intelligence-Driven Risk provides a solution to one of the most pressing issues that executives and risk managers face: How can we weave information security into our business decisions to minimize overall business risk?
In today's complex digital landscape, business decisions and cyber event responses have implications for information security that high-level actors may be unable to foresee. What we need is a cybersecurity command center capable of delivering, not just data, but concise, meaningful interpretations that allow us to make informed decisions.
Building, buying, or outsourcing a CI-DR (TM) program is the answer. In his work with executives at leading financial organizations and with the U.S. military, author Richard O. Moore III has tested and proven this next-level approach to Intelligence and Risk. This book is a guide to:
- Building, buying, or outsourcing a cyber intelligence-driven risk program
- Understanding the functional capabilities needed to sustain the program
- Using cyber intelligence to support Enterprise Risk Management
- Reducing loss from cyber events by building new organizational capacities
- Supporting mergers and acquisitions with predictive analytics
Each function of a well-designed cyber intelligence-driven risk program can support informed business decisions in the era of increased complexity and emergent cyber threats.

Taking a novel approach to the subject of leadership, this book uses its dark side as a vehicle to highlight some important leadership lessons, helping all managers to reflect on their own performance.
The Impostor Leaders clarifies what is meant by genuine leadership, focusing on the fact that leading and managing go hand in hand. Based on this ability to consistently combine the leadership and management roles, this book describes in detail and practical terms, using real-world examples, the range of good and bad leader-types seen in organizations today. The Leadership Wheel is also introduced as a conceptual framework to isolate eight types of leaders across four categories.
Appealing to leaders and managers across industry sectors, this book's substantial analysis of bad leadership gives readers a tangible framework against which to consider their own capabilities.

This book examines application and methods to incorporating stochastic parameter variations into the optimization process to decrease expense in corrective measures. Basic types of deterministic substitute problems occurring mostly in practice involve i) minimization of the expected primary costs subject to expected recourse cost constraints (reliability constraints) and remaining deterministic constraints, e.g. box constraints, as well as ii) minimization of the expected total costs (costs of construction, design, recourse costs, etc.) subject to the remaining deterministic constraints.
After an introduction into the theory of dynamic control systems with random parameters, the major control laws are described, as open-loop control, closed-loop, feedback control and open-loop feedback control, used for iterative construction of feedback controls. For approximate solution of optimization and control problems with random parameters and involving expected cost/loss-type objective, constraint functions, Taylor expansion procedures, and Homotopy methods are considered, Examples and applications to stochastic optimization of regulators are given. Moreover, for reliability-based analysis and optimal design problems, corresponding optimization-based limit state functions are constructed. Because of the complexity of concrete optimization/control problems and their lack of the mathematical regularity as required of Mathematical Programming (MP) techniques, other optimization techniques, like random search methods (RSM) became increasingly important.Basic results on the convergence and convergence rates of random search methods are presented. Moreover, for the improvement of the - sometimes very low - convergence rate of RSM, search methods based on optimal stochastic decision processes are presented. In order to improve the convergence behavior of RSM, the random search procedure is embedded into a stochastic decision process for an optimal control ofthe probability distributions of the search variates (mutation random variables).

This book explores diversity in boardrooms to highlight the link between the heterogeneous dimensions of board diversity and their impact on the firms. The book provides a brief definition of corporate governance and focuses on the role and functions of the board of directors. The work contributes to the literature enriching the empirical findings about board diversity. After a deep review of the literature within several theoretical frameworks, such as agency, stakeholder, stewardship, resource dependence, and the institutional theory, the focus moves on the impact on financial performance. The board diversity effects are tested through an empirical analysis conducted on a sample of European listed companies, performing both a single and a joint diversity index analysis. Practitioners and academics will find this book particularly timely and useful as it combines both a review of the literature and robust empirical investigation.
It will be an excellent reading for academics and practitioners interested in firm performance, corporate governance and stakeholder theory.

What new directions in China's digital economy mean for us all
China is the largest homogenous digital market on Earth: unified by language, culture, and mobile payments. Not only a consumer market of unrivaled size, it's also a vast and hyperactive innovation ecosystem for new technologies. And as China's digital economy moves from a consumer-focused phase to an enterprise-oriented one, Chinese companies are rushing to capitalize on ways the newer wave of tech-the Internet of Things, AI, blockchain, cloud computing, and data analytics (iABCD)-can unlock value for their businesses from non-traditional angles.
In The Digital War, Winston Ma-investment professional, capital markets attorney, adjunct professor of digital economy, and bestselling author-details the profound global implications of this new direction, including how Chinese apps for services such as food delivery expand so quickly they surpass their U.S. models within a couple of years, and how the sheer scale and pace of Chinese innovation might lead to an AI arms race in which China and the U.S. vie aggressively for leadership.
- How China's younger netizens participate in their evolving digital economy as consumers, creators, and entrepreneurs
- Why Online/Office (OMO, Online-merge-with-Offline) integration is viewed as the natural next step on from the O2O (Online-to-Offline) model used in the rest of the world
- The ways in which traditional Chinese industries such as retail, banking, and insurance are innovating to stay in the game
- What emerging markets can learn from China as they leapfrog past the personal computer age altogether, diving straight into the mobile-first economy
Anyone interested in what's next for Chinese digital powerhouses-investors, governments, entrepreneurs, international business players-will find this an essential guide to what lies ahead as China's flexes new digital muscles to create new forms of value and challenge established tech giants across the world.

As CEOs and business leaders navigate a world of complex global challenges, sustainability is no longer optional but a business imperative. In this book, two sustainability leaders with decades of experience - Henrik Henriksson, CEO of Scania and Elaine Weidman Grunewald, Co-founder of the AI Sustainability Center, and former Chief Sustainability & Public Affairs Officer at Ericsson - offer a simple but powerful three-step model for leading an organization on a sustainability transformation journey that aims at big, audacious, world-changing goals.
Honest about the dilemmas but bullish on the opportunities, the authors advise leaders on how to accelerate sustainability in their organizations told through a Swedish lens, where the country's values and culture permeate the boardroom and the C-suite, bringing a unique clarity and conviction to leading with integrity.
In practical insights gleaned from the authors' own experience, the book takes leaders through the three phases of sustainability leadership: from establishing a solid foundation rooted in purpose, culture, values, principles and consistent, credible leadership, to integrating sustainability into the core business, and then to executing a vision that not only shifts the direction of the company but can change an entire industry, and even the world.
Throughout the book, more than 25 interviews with other leading CEOs of Swedish companies as well as successful start-ups, investors, economists, and other experts illuminate the path to sustainability leadership from different perspectives. These are complemented by case studies describing how companies got it right - or turned themselves around after getting it very, very wrong.
With this hands-on insiders' guide, CEOs and C-suite leaders can take sustainability to the next level. This is the encouragement and inspiration business leaders need to move past incremental improvement at a time when exponential, world-changing action ismore urgent than ever.

What is the significance of entrepreneurship in an economy? Scholars have argued that when the market is viewed as a process of perpetual adjustment to various forces, and not as a set of end-state prices and quantities simply arrived at, the role of the entrepreneur comes to the fore. What then are fruitful ways to conceive of the phenomenon of entrepreneurship? How do entrepreneurs both respond to and shape larger forces in the economy? In what ways can political institutions and government regulation shape the decisions made by entrepreneurs, and their responsiveness to consumers? How does the cultural environment influence the types of opportunities that an entrepreneur will notice and act on? Finally, is entrepreneurial behavior strictly limited to activity we see in the market?
This edited volume-comprised of chapters by scholars and students studying from the disciplines of sociology and economics-examines entrepreneurship theoretically and applied to various cases. It provides an overview of the economic literature on entrepreneurship and puts forth a framework for understanding the market process, as well the policy implications of government intervention and cultural considerations in the market. It will be of use to any scholars, students, practitioners or policymakers interested in entrepreneurship.大学と企業家精神 Jones, Paul / Apostolopoulos, N. / Kakouris, A. This novel edited volume attempts to answer the following timely questions: 1.What are intrinsic demands for entrepreneurship rooted to universities in the 21st century? 2.What are conducive environments for entrepreneurial learning in both academic and non-academic settings? 3.Do these attempts demonstrate differential impact across students from different disciplines, and more generally amongst the youth population?
This eleventh volume of Contemporary Issues in Entrepreneurship Research is a valuable contribution to the intersection of research into entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial universities. In acknowledging the varied and somewhat piecemeal approach taken to address these issues to date, this edited volume provides a more systematic and integrated perspective with relevance for students of entrepreneurship as well as for educators and policymakers.

This volume chronicles the high impact research career of Harvey Greenberg (1940-2018), and in particular, it reviews historical contributions, presents current research projects, and suggests future pursuits. This volume addresses several of his most distinguished hallmarks, including model analysis, model generation, infeasibility diagnosis, sensitivity analysis, parametric programming, energy modeling, and computational biology. There is also an overview chapter on the emergence of computational OR, and in particular, how literature venues have changed the course of OR research.
He developed Computer-Assisted Analysis in the 1970s and 80s, creating an artificially intelligent environment for analyzing mathematical programming models and their results. This earned him the first INFORMS Computing Society (ICS) Prize for "research excellence in the interfaces between operations research and computer science" in 1986, notably for his software system, ANALYZE.
In 1993, he wrote the first book in the Springer OR/CS Series entitled A Computer-Assisted Analysis System for Mathematical Programming Models and Solutions: A User's Guide for ANALYZE. He applied OR methods to CS problems, ranging from using queuing theory for optimal list structure design to using integer programming for bioinformatic database search. He also applied CS to OR problems, ranging from super-sparse information structures to the use of compiler design in ANALYZE. This book can serve as a guide to new researchers, and will report the historical trajectory of OR as it solves current problems and forecasts future applications through the accomplishments of Harvey Greenberg.

This book presents the Entrepreneurship Viability Index (EVI) as a focal point to define other novel indices. It also introduces readers to new concepts and metrics of entrepreneurship to help measure the lifespan of entrepreneurial activities and quantify the capabilities of entrepreneurs as well as the share of efficient businesses at the country level. Using a variety of mathematical models and providing details for each category of business, EVI is measured as the ratio of the 'rate of entrepreneurial activities' to the 'rate of exit from the business', reflecting the sustainability, durability, business success, and status of entrepreneurial activities in a country. These metrics offer a unique opportunity for researchers and policymakers to assess the status of efficient entrepreneurial activities, which influence the economy, and to study economic resistance in the event of economic shocks or recessions.
The book provides valuable information on various key concepts in entrepreneurship, such as the interaction of individual and environmental factors, motivation and entrepreneurial activities, which allow the prediction of entrepreneurship treatment across countries. This in turn plays a significant role in identifying the factors that secure or threaten a country's business sector. The book helps readers, researchers, policymakers, lenders, "angel investors" and anyone with a financial interest in entrepreneurial businesses to understand how even more viable businesses could be created than is the case today, and to recognize new categories of budding entrepreneurs.

Leadership development aims to disrupt leaders' behavioural and thought patterns. However, for many decades leadership development has not changed significantly: nobody seems to be disrupting the disrupters. It needs to evolve if leaders are to deal successfully with the disruptive challenges they face today - such as climate change, global health emergencies, digitization, an ageing workforce and the different expectations of millennials and Generation Z.
This book reflects critically on the future of leadership development and what is missing in traditional approaches. It is based on interviews with leadership development suppliers, HR professionals and leaders, as well as the authors' industry experience. This book provides practical recommendations for how leadership development needs to change to support leaders as they navigate a volatile and uncertain world.イノベーションと新製品のプランニング Kahn, Kenneth B. / Mohan, Mayoor, Innovation and New Product Planning. 256 pp. 2020:12 (Routledge, UK) <660-528 660-P1855>

This book identifies the ongoing management issues and compatible management systems for sustainable and inclusive development in a transforming Asia. In the dynamic process of economic development in Asia, many positive and also negative issues have arisen. Since the latter half of the 1990s, the network economy based on digital technologies began to be established and technological and cross-border transfer of managerial knowledge became easier. This change in technological and market structure now requires companies to meet another dimension of competition.
In this new paradigm, many Asian companies are struggling with turbulent new managerial and organizational issues together with economic and social problems that concentrate at the bottom of the pyramid.
This book elucidates these issues, keeping sustainability and inclusiveness in mind.
The book is highly recommended not only for academicians but also business people who seek an in-depth and up-to-date overview of dynamically changing business and industrial structures in Asia focusing on sustainability and inclusion issues.

Leading with a discussion of the historical construction of migration and what it signifies in the modern globalised economies, an interdisciplinary range of contributors examine the interaction of migrants with new cultures, migrants' embeddedness into new environments and what that signifies for community relations. The book discusses the creative energies that migrants bring to the private and public spheres.
Migration Practice as Creative Practice examines how migrants use their social lives, lived experiences, the process of identity formation and histories to inject positive 'newness' into host cultural and economic architectures. The book calls for more creative ways of researching migrant lived experiences and brings to life the different ways of approaching migrant research for scholars today.

Despite providing us with a good understanding of how firms use certain mechanisms to benefit from open innovation strategies, current research provides only limited insights into how barriers internal to the firm may hamper knowledge transfer and limit effective utilization of external knowledge sources.
The Influence of Internal Barriers on Open Innovation proposes a dynamic perspective that addresses this gap and aims at stimulating this discussion in two ways. First, by looking at how the way firms structure their internal (innovation) activities may (unintentionally) create barriers to the incorporation of external knowledge. Second, by reflecting on how internal barriers might be coupled to firm decisions aimed at the optimization of innovation processes, like the balance between exploration and exploitation strategies.
The chapters of this book provide detailed conceptualization and investigation of organizational characteristics and practices that influence internal barriers to open innovation. The diverse set of studies described in the chapters of this book will help open innovation scholars to better understand the challenges that firms face when dealing with internal barriers that affect their external knowledge search and knowledge sourcing.
The chapters in this book were originally published as a special issue of the journal Industry and Innovation.
