This book engages with a contemporary phenomenon of newsfluencers - individuals who use social media platforms to present news using innovative formats such as image and video to engage with their audience, analyzing news stories according to certain topics that resemble their personal interests. Such a role - integrated within the periphery of journalism - has been noted by scholars and major international outlets and has been evolving. It brings professional journalists and peripheral actors together in an individual effort to bring innovation in how information is produced and distributed to digital audiences, particularly young people who are distant from traditional media and who look for an inspiring role model figure through which they can learn about topics that they are most interested in. To explain this phenomenon, the book looks at the topic from two dimensions - production (including those who produce news for young people, working within journalism organizations but increasingly also acting upon their individualization on social media platforms to disruptively contribute to the field) and reception (including adolescents who frequently use social media platforms to know about current events).

This includes an emphasis on conversation or dialogue for genuine interpretation and understanding, the cultivation of practical and social reason, and the call for solidarity in the world with others. Furthermore, anti-hermeneutics promotes the outsourcing of individual decision and judgment, encourages conformism, and participates in the corruption of language as the medium of hermeneutic experience. Ultimately, anti-hermeneutics marks the condition for the impossibility of a community's collective ability to interpret, understand, and come into agreement with one another.

This book investigates the spatial relations between digital media and society, relying on Marshall McLuhan's probes into the effects of communication technology. First, McLuhan's media theory is discussed with a focus on the effects of media in structuring the conditions of space perception at both the individual and the social levels. Second, McLuhan's lifelong interest in the city as a learning environment is contrasted with his claim that cities are obsolete vis-a-vis the global village of instant electronic communication. The contradiction is more apparent than real, as McLuhan imagined a future for cities as programmed environments for the sensory training of citizens and actively engaged in discussions with urban planners and designers. Third, McLuhan's insights are extended beyond his time to make sense of the current relationship between digital media, space, and urban society.
