The book analyses the legal conditions for the use of insurance in waste management. The main focus of the study is the regulations of the EU and selected European countries, supplemented by a comparison with the legal regulations in the USA. The choice of the EU as the main subject of the research is due to the concept of rational ecological waste management developed in EU law. However, national and international legal instruments regulating waste management are not precisely reflected in insurance concepts covering waste risks. It proves necessary to develop a conceptual apparatus related to the definition of insurance waste risks. It seems valuable to define the role of insurance in a comprehensive waste risk management system at local and regional level.

Therefore, part of the book is devoted to the application of EU environmental and waste management rules to the interpretation of financial collateral requirements and the use of insurance as a financial instrument. Harking from Aotearoa New Zealand, this book provides an account of the postqualitative approaches employed to map the worlds of four trans secondary students and the possibilities for gender justice that these worlds offer. Reading these maps through an agential realist lens affords a sense of the material-discursive, multiplicitous, dis/continuous, and more-than-human becoming of these students, their genderings, and the worlds that co-constitute them. These dynamics are a hauntological matter: the im/possibilities of students' presents are never simply here-now, entangled with pasts that have (not) been and futures that will (never) be. This is manifestly evident in the way the colonial invention of gender haunts students' worlds, constraining response-abilities, but also in the wondrous potentialities that lie in wait at the edge of possibility, reminding us that more just worlds are always already present (even if only as exclusions). An agential realist ethics of response-ability requires tracing the entanglements that constitute the ongoing reconfiguration of relations that embody reality, or spacetimematterings, as a means of renegotiating im/possibilities.

Recent events have shown how uncivil communication by political elites on social media can spread through networked publics and contribute to real-world disruption. To explain the upstream dynamics of these processes, this book introduces the Spiral of Political Incivility on Social Media (SPIN), a model that conceptualizes incivility as a dynamic, three-stage process: the production of norm violations by political actors, their perception shaped by platform affordances and national contexts, and user reactions that may reinforce or dampen the original cues.

Drawing on a most-different-systems design, the study combines computational text analysis of 37,152 campaign posts across Facebook, Twitter, and Telegram in Brazil, Spain, and the United States, representative surveys (N = 2,337), and an analysis of 13.6 million user comments. The findings reveal three ideal-typical trajectories-reinforcing, reactive, and dampened spirals-demonstrating that political incivility online is not random noise but a context-dependent process shaped by the interaction of actors, platforms, and users. By identifying where these spirals accelerate or stall, the study highlights key leverage points for mitigating the diffusion of incivility in digital democracies.
