解説

This book investigates Sovereign Green Bonds (SGBs) from an international perspective, exploring the use and adoption of global agreements on climate change.
In 2016 the first SGB was issued in Poland. Known as an ecofriendly and innovative debt instrument, SGBs have gained traction globally with many States offering them to investors to finance 'green friendly' projects. Examining SGBs' role within climate change risk mitigation and corporate sustainability strategies for sustainable development goals, the book also examines their inherent risks. This includes political and reputational risk, alongside accusations of greenwashing. Providing insights including relevant legal and policy frameworks for regulation and disclosure, it makes use of international case studies to compare and contrast SGB implementation globally. Taking a comparative approach, the book also highlights new debt instruments, including the use of blue bonds in emerging markets.
The book will be of interest to researchers in the field of finance law, environmental law and sustainable development.
