解説
In the period immediately after World War II, British-Indian forces occupied the Netherlands East Indies - modern Indonesia. The occupation bridged the gap between the surrender of Japan and the brief resumption of Dutch colonial rule which preceded Indonesian independence. Originally published in 1948, this book discusses these post-war political developments in Indonesia and in particular the negotiations by the Dutch government with the Indonesian Republic up to the Linggadjati Agreement. It examines the major political and diplomatic developments, bringing clarity and cohesion to a complicated set of events. It contains a wealth of documentary evidence presented in the main text and Appendix, material which is extremely helpful for the reader and which meant that the book was so well received when it was first published.
