Originally published in 1923, this book by highly esteemed Orientalist Ernest Wallis Budge contains an English translation of the Ethiopic text of the tale of Baralam and Yewasef, a Christianized version of the Buddhist legend of the Buddha and the Bodhisattva. Budge also examines versions of the story in other linguistic traditions, including Persian and Armenian, and revised translations of The Preaching of St Thomas in India and The Acts of St Thomas in India, which he originally published in 1899. This book will be of value to anyone with an interest in the transmission and adaptation of folklore or in early Christianity.
