In Western culture, domination and hierarchy are evident in three principal ways: the oppression of people by other people; the oppression of women by men; and the oppression of nature by human beings. Combining perspectives from anarchist, feminist, and ecological movements in addressing these three tyrannies, "Green philosophy" has the potential to constitute the basis of any post-Western worldview that renounces domination and hierarchy, including those that inform the writing and teaching of history.
