This reference book is a national study of counsellor preparation programmes on the masters' and doctoral level, containing three major thrusts: detailed information of more than 625 graduate level preparation programs; statistical treatment with interpretations of composite national research on each kind of counseling programme; and trends based on comparison of 1996 data with longitudinal data collected periodically since 1970. It also makes notes of programmes accredited by different associations, including the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the American Association of Pastoral Counselors. In addition to listing faculty by name, degree, title, and time devoted to each programme, the text gives detailed information for subjects including separate programmes; degrees offered; accreditations held (if any); and departmental addresses and telephones. Courses to be added or dropped by counselling departments are listed, as are other anticipated changes within the departments.
