This concise form of AACR is intended to promote a basic set of cataloguing rules, stated in simple English, that can be used by relatively untrained personnel for relatively small and uncomplicated catalogues. It is also for practitioners and students to whom the full and comprehensive text of AACR2 contains more than they need to know about standards and procedures for catalogue making and the organization of bibliographic records. These concise rules are a working tool that should be of practical value in all kinds of libraries and in many countries. This edition (the last was published in 1988) introduces the 1993-1997 amendments to AACR. New examples and updates are provided including: choice of access points; uniform titles; and computer files.
