This work challenges mainstream approaches to the study of Russian policy by its application of Marxism and dependancy theories. Using class analysis, it examines the issue of Russia and the West. A study of the relationship between capitalist Russia and the West. It explores the contradiction between the assumption that Russia is a hard-line opponent of the West and the reality of its compliance with and dependence on the West - an issue which haunts Russian foreign policy studies.
