This book is among the first to assess a set of innovative financing mechanisms that have been transforming the humanitarian sector thus far and explores the key opportunities, challenges and future potential of the emergent innovative humanitarian financing field. The aims of this book are threefold: 1) outline the main features of humanitarian funding and explore the range of non-traditional financing mechanisms and approaches being used to tap new funding pools; 2) analyze landmark innovative humanitarian financing models that so far have not been collectively explored in the policy, industry and academic sphere; 3) provide a road map of priorities and policy strategies for further development.
