解説

This book critically analyzes the transformation of educational systems following the breakdown of the Communist regime in the countries of the Visegrad group (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia) from 1989 until the present. The authors examine what changes have occurred, why the current shape of educational system is as it is today, as well as why in some areas certain changes did not appear. While all four countries instituted large-scale societal and educational changes in 1989 and in similar positions at the time, there have been various similarities and differences across their developments in curriculum, evaluation, teachers, educational management and administration, and school autonomy. The authors not only analyze each country individually but also offer a thorough comparative analysis across all four countries. This book will be a necessary addition to scholars and students in International Education and Educational Change as well as those studying Post-Soviet societies.
