Reaching the marginalized is the eighth edition of the Education for All Global Monitoring Report. It paints a startling picture of the scale of deprivation. Identifying the root of disadvantage in education and beyond, the report assesses the effectiveness of national policies in combating marginalization. Set against the backdrop of the global economic crisis, it also examines current trends and prospects in education finance, including international aid. Prepared by an independent team based at UNESCO, the analysis is based on case studies and commissioned research. The report includes comprehensive data analysis relating to the six education goals that over 160 governments have pledged to reach by 2015. These cover early childhood care and education, primary and secondary education, gender, life skills, adult literacy and education quality.
