解説
アイゼンハワー大統領は、1955年中東での共産主義の策動を妨害し、この地域の反共集団安全保障体制を構築する目的で、トルコ、イラク、イランに英国を加えたバグダード条約機構を結成しました。1957年には、「アイゼンハワー・ドクトリン」と呼ばれる中東特別教書を発表し、「国際共産主義」勢力から中東諸国の領土的独立を守るために、中東諸国への経済援助とソ連侵攻防止のための軍隊出動の権限を求めました。
