Thailand's investment climate is better than that of China, India, Brazil and most neighboring countries except Malaysia. However, Thai firms' operations are still hindered by three major constraints: heavy regulatory burden, skills shortages and a deficient infrastructure outside Bangkok. This report suggests measures to address these three issues which constitute the core of Thailand's competitiveness challenge. The report draws heavily on data from the Thailand Productivity and Investment Climate Survey (PICS), a large survey of 1,385 establishments in Manufacturing and 100 in ICT, and 13,847 workers, conducted between March 2004 and February 2005.
