Published by Sinauer Associates, an imprint of Oxford University Press. PsyCog is a CD-ROM of over 40 interactive demonstrations and 18 data-generating experiments in sensory and cognitive psychology. The demonstrations include interactive explanatory figures, demonstrations of phenomena, and common visual illusions for which the student can vary many parameters. The experiments generate quantitative data, including data files and graphs that can be saved and printed. The demonstrations and experiments are standard visual illusions illustrated in textbooks but with one important difference. Because PsyCog's presentation is interactive, students can run experiments with themselves and their friends as subjects. Even for those illusions for which this approach does not work, students can adjust many parameters to determine which result in the strongest effect.
