"Equity in Education" brings a uniquely international perspective to the challenges faced and the progress being made in the area of educating at-risk students. By bringing forward the range of educational issues related to educating the most disadvantaged students in diverse contexts, the book examines a range of themes including: issues involved in educating at risk students that are unique to each country; issues shared by developing countries as contrasted to issues shared by developed nations; and issues that are shared by all countries in the education of disadvantaged children. Countries analyzed include two developing countries (India and Indonesia), one country recently declared to be a developed nation (Taiwan), and three Western nations (The Netherlands, the UK, and the USA). This book will provide material and thought for cross-cultural comparisons and deliberations, and future directions for school effectiveness and improvement.
