インド通貨問題は、結局２０世紀まで持ち越されることになる。金正貨が不足している場合の金本位制として多くの国では金為替本位制度が実施され、インドも例外ではなかった。それについて分析した『インドの通貨と金融』を1913年に刊行したケインズは、まさに同年に委員に任命されており、同著では委員会とは独立に結論に達したことを強調している。委員長サー・オースティン・チェンバレン（Sir Austen Chamberlain, 1863-1937）は保守党の有力政治家で、父親は関税改革運動で著名なジョゼフ（Joseph Chamberlain, 1836-1914）。報告書はインドについての包括的な通貨金融制度改革を提言した。
本巻の後者に収録されているカンリフ委員会報告は、頁数からすればきわめて短い。しかし、その影響力はある意味では大戦間期随一ともいえる。それはこの委員会報告が第一次世界大戦後のイギリスの金本位制復帰を明確に示したからである。第一次世界大戦（当時の言葉で大戦争）の勃発によって、1914年イギリスは長年採用してきた金本位制から離脱する。その後、問題になったのは金本位制への復帰であった。委員会は、当時のイングランド銀行総裁ウォルター・カンリフ卿（Walter Cunliffe, 1st Baron Cunliffe, 1855-1920）をはじめとして、大蔵省の官僚、および金融関係者によって占められている。学者は当時ケンブリッジ大学教授であったアーサー・セシル・ピグーのみであった。「遅滞なき」金本位制復帰とそのための条件整備（信用収縮）を提言した本委員会の報告書は政府の公式見解となり、1925年4月に当時の蔵相ウィンストン・チャーチルが金本位制に復帰する根拠の一つとなった。どちらの報告書も金本位制を重要な論点としており、この時代の政策の構図がよくわかる。
