The collection comprises primarily correspondence files, including between the SPG & the Colonial Office in London, relating to dioceses in the provinces of Australia & New Zealand from the mid-19th century, the records also contain printed reports, annual returns, financial statements, & the journals & private letters of early Anglican missionaries & bishops. The 1st 11 reels reproduce the vols. of copies of letters received (CLR) & copies of letters sent (CLS) for the region, with a further 12 reels containing the boxes of materials from the C series of the USPG archive relating to Australia, Melanesia & New Zealand. Also included is a single-box (C/EMIGRANTS/1) from the C series with 24 folders comprising chiefly unbound reports, correspondence & journals from the mid-19th century (1838 - 1864) re SPG's chaplains ministering to emigrants to Australia & North America (mostly Canada) from Liverpool & other English ports of emigration.
