解説
最初のロンドン・ダイレクトリーは1677年発行の125頁の "Collection of Names of Merchants" であり､ 郵便局吏員によって調査・編集された最初のものは､ London Post Office Directory で "New Annual Directory"の名で1880年に刊行され､ 以後"Annual Post Office Directory" "London Post Office Directory" として1838年第39版まで発行されました｡ 1835年著作権が Frederick Kellyの手にわたり､ 急速に売れ行きをのばし､ 1839年からは Kelly's Post Office Directory と名を変え､ 1841年から新たに市街区別人名録が刊行が続けられています。
