Relates popular contemporary films to the development of American morality post 9/11 Weber takes seven films released within six months of the September 11 attacks and analyses the discourses generated by and about them. She traces the shifts in American morality that occurred in the wake of the attacks and Gulf War II by exploring these cinematic representations of the social categories around which contemporary US society revolves: family, nation and globalisation. Through the analysis of America's moral engagement with post-September 11 cinema it is possible to see the questions Americans are asking about their agency and their place in the world. The aim of this book is to understand the emerging American moralities and their implications for national and international politics. The films discussed are: Pearl Harbor, We Were Soldiers, Behind Enemy Lines, Black Hawk Down, Kandahar, Collateral Damage, Minority Report and Farenheit 9/11
