解説
Japan and the Emerging Asia-Pacific Order provides an up-to-date account of Japanese involvement in recent developments within the Asia-Pacific region.
The book looks at the ways in which the end of the Cold War has opened up new opportunities for both state and non-state actors in Japan to play an increasingly active role in reshaping the Asia-Pacific order, at the same time as Cold War structures remain as constraints on their behaviour. The main theme is thus an analysis of how these actors are contributing to the emergence of a new order in post Cold War Asia Pacific, with particular attention to the mid-1990s onwards. It also looks at the role of state, business, subnational political authorities and non-governmental organisations in contributing to that nascent order, as such providing a richer picture of the Japanese role in the reconfiguration of the Asia Pacific in this period.
