解説

Ideas of community justice have become central in the criminal justice debate, encompassing notions of effective supervision of offenders outside prison, support for victims of crime, and the creation of safe communities. This book has two main aims: to develop a philosophy of community justice, and to map a series of policy and practice implications for such a philosophy. It argues that there is a moral vacuum in responses to crime in Britain, and that ideas of community justice provide a means of mobilising humanitarian energies. "Creating Community Justice" also engages with debates over the role of probation and the future of the Probation Service, and will be useful reading for anybody with an interest with how society responds to crime and deals with both offenders and victims.
