Research has revealed that pinpointing the difference between more and less effective schools is frustratingly difficult. This text utilizes network analysis to reveal the patterns of behaviour that make a difference and, through the use of numerous diagrams, shows how these vary between different types of school. The book is based on original research, but has been rewritten for a more general market. It uses sociograms to illustrate patterns of management and communications in different types of school. For each type of school (rural, suburban, urban) it shows how the pattern for effective schools looks different from that of ineffective schools.
