Ideally suited for short introductory courses in English Law, English Legal System and Introduction to Law for specialists and non-specialists, on LLB programmes, aswell as related courses in AS Level Law and A-Level Law. This text is a concise introduction to the subject of the English legal system. The aim of the book is to introduce students to the regulated legal "environment" of the UK. Law-making in the form of judge-made law and legislation will be introduced, both at a national level and a Community level. It will also consider dispute resolution through the courts and alternatives, statutory interpretation, the criminal and civil justice systems (including Woolf reforms in this area), appeals and judicial review, and evidence in the legal process.
