解説
Long regarded as the greatest medieval philosopher, St. Thomas Aquinas (c.1224-1274), Catholic theologian and philosopher, produced a vast amount of work estimated at around 8 million words. Included in this extraordinary output are his commentaries on Aristotle, of which this title complements the four volume set Aquinas's "Commentaries on Aristotle" previously produced by Thoemmes Press. "On Interpretation" and the "Posterior Analytics" are two of Aristotle's most important works on logic. They come from that part of his work that is known as the "Organon" ("instrument") because - as Aristotle showed - logic concerns the structure of arguments and not their content; logic can therefore be used on all arguments whatsoever. Containing both of Aristotle's full texts with Bekker numbers and St. Thomas's commentary, this volume is fully cross-referenced for ease of use. These works should be of interest to students and academics working in the field of ancient and medieval philosophy.
