解説
After reviewing the history of the Hungarian Social Democratic Party, the book concentrates on four crucial years of democracy in that country, when social democrats struggled against the Nazi occupation forces and their protegees, the local fascist Arro Cross Party. The book exposes the internal struggle, in which the moderate wing under the leadership of Karoly Peyer did its best to resist the leftists promoting the Communist cause. The book depicts the show trials of social democrats as well as the initial outcome of the struggle: the merger in 1948 into the Workers Party.
