Following the announcement by the Lord Chancellor that Part II of the Family Law Act 1996 is to be postponed, leading figures from all disciplines involved in the divorce process consider the future in these proceedings of The President's Interdisciplinary Family Law Conference 1999. The 26 contributors include leading family law practitioners and academics, social workers, adult and child mental health professionals, family therapists, mediators and the judiciary. They make their recommendations on what changes to the law are now needed, the role of the various disciplines in the process and ways in which children can be more closely involved in decisions which will affect their lives, particularly in the light of the forthcoming implementation of the Human Rights Act 1998.
