This text highlights the issues and dilemmas in the management of child protection services as experienced by those who have the responsibility for managing the services. It is structured around the various professional disciplines that are represented on area child protection committees - health visitors, social services, paediatricians, GPs, health education reps, LEA reps, head teachers, child psychiatrists and police. It explains the purpose and functions of ACPCs, the role of the different members and identifies and explores some of the challenges, problems and dilemmas involved in the inter-agency management of child protection.
