Setting out to explore the impact of China's recent economic reforms on land use, land values, property markets and construction activity, this book examines the impact of China's "open door" policy in the economic sector, from its inception in the late 1970s by Deng Xiao Ping, until his death in 1997. The book points out that, even with Deng's death, the Chinese government has confirmed its commitment to economic reform and this will continue the transformation of land use, land values, property markets and construction activity.
