解説
An international conference of cataloguing experts took place in Canada in October 1997 to explore the question of whether AACR2 is flexible enough to respond to today's challenges and to future opportunities. The major purpose was to discuss the history and principles of AACR and their relevancy in the online environment. New information technologies have raised questions, concerns and controversy regarding AACR2. These and other factors that affect the future of the rules were explored in the three-day conference. This volume contains the nine papers presented, with the editor's commentary on the conference and presentations, together with edited transcriptions of the panel discussions generated by the papers. Cataloguing experts included Michael Gorman, Jean Hirons, Martha Yee and others from the international community. Topics covered included: bibliographic relationships; seriality; access points for works; and MARC and AACR.
