Selected, edited, and updated papers from the 1996 symposium on global food security organized by the World Food Prize Foundation are presented in this book. The international dimension of food security is explored, with attention to regional and national trends as well as incentives and recommendations for dealing with food supply issues.Symposium participants and authors of the papers include scientists (economists, food scientists, nutritionists, plant pathologists, agronomists, agricultural scientists, and entomologists), policymakers, and humanitarians known worldwide for their efforts to eradicate hunger--including World Food Prize and Nobel Peace Prize laureates.
