The papers in this volume are important and valuable survey articles of policy measures. Some of the issues that are likely to be of major importance in the context of economic theory that underlies stablization and structural adjustment programs, are covered. The purpose of each section is to provide theoretical as well as empirical surveys useful for those who are involved in macroeconomic model building. The authors survey and critically review the theories, as well as empirical evidence, and discuss their relevance to the developing countries, with special reference to Arab countries. Topics covered range from monetary and interest rate issues and policy measures; exchange rate and trade theories and policy measures; fiscal issues, to current labor market developments and theories including distributional and social security issues.
