Produced on behalf of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations, this book is the result of the meeting on Global Climatic Change and Agricultural Production held in Rome, in December 1993. Issues covered include the CO2 antitranspiration effect, and the adverse effects of elevated levels of UV-B radiation and ozone on plant growth, productivity and livestock. The global picture of these effects is also studied, for instance, the effects of changes in the world hydrological cycle, the regional availability of water resources, and the effects of global climate change on soil conditions and the implications of this on food production. Modelling techniques are also discussed.
