Although the European Union has made great progress in mant aspects of integrating the member states into a unified trading bloc, the question of individuals entering and taking up residence in a member state to work is still governed in many aspects by the individual countries. This is particularly true for non-EU citizens. Navigating the immigration rules in general, the national limits set before an individual can take up residence in a European country and the rights of companies establishing a business in Europe to employ foreign citizens, requires careful planning and an understanding of the national rules. This book is divided into 14 chapters, together with an overview of the European Union legislation. Each country is structured around a template for ease of comparison. The authors have used a common teminology throughout to standardize the confusing variety of technical terms used in each country.
