The changing demographic profile of India's population has brought about new problems for the elderly.

This volume describes the conditions facing the elderly, supported by survey data and case studies of residents in old-age homes in the state of Maharashtra. The author studies regional variations and the differences between rural and urban elderly in terms of health, financial constraints and the location and functioning of old-age homes.
