Though Marxism has been declared dead many times, it remains as a theory of social and political change. This text serves as an introduction to the basic vocabulary of Marx's thought for undergraduates in various disciplines, and for others unfamiliar with Marxism. Emphasizing Marxism as a materialist approach to understanding society and human history, the author draws on the work of Lenin, Rosa Luxemburg, Antonio Gramsci and more recent figures, to present concepts such as social practice, mode of production, class, state power, ideological hegemony and imperialism.
