During the 1980s, Ghanaian politics underwent a transformation - from revolution to economic reforms to the eventual return to democratic government. This book situates these changes within a broader historical context. It argues that a predominant theme in Ghana's body politic is the relationship between wealth and virtue and, in examining this, focuses on the labour movement, the peasantry, the professional associations, the student movement, the churches and the military.
