This is a practitioner-oriented book which tackles the most common public order offences in a practical style. In addition to taking account of the 1994 Criminal Justice and Public Order Act, it offers treatment of the public order offences which fall outside this Act and the Public Order Act 1986; these include breach of the peace, binding over, obstruction of the highway, and the legislation relating to sports fans and venues. In the light of decided cases, the author also examines the definition of various offences, the clarification of various police powers, the appropriate mode of trial and the sentencing policy to be adopted.
