解説
This study describes how tourism has both contributed to and been influenced by the broader processes of economic restructuring and cultural change. It provides an overview of the structure of changes in, and challenges to, tourism across Europe. The work begins by examining four European regions, and ascertaining whether they have a distinctive tourist product. It then goes on to look at the changing markets and spatial organization of coastal, rural and urban tourism, and the issue of transnationalization, with particular respect to labour migration and capital formation. Finally, the book addresses the emergence of new forms of tourist products as a consequence of social and political transformations.
