Neue Epochensetzungen statt Ende der Epochen? Konjunkturen und Veraenderungen eines Begriffs werden interdisziplinaer auf den Pruefstand gestellt. Der Abgesang auf Epochen ist in den Geisteswissenschaften seit laengerem unueberhoerbar: zu konstruiert, zugleich zu naiv, in einer Zeit staendiger Beschleunigung altbacken, in der Unermesslichkeit des ?Anthropozaens? obsolet. Gleichwohl herrscht in den Wissenschaften ebensowenig ein Mangel an aufgefrischten oder neuen Epochensetzungen wie im oeffentlichen Diskurs, wo Zaesuren beobachtet, behauptet oder herbeigewuenscht werden, um politische Ziele zu erreichen. Beispiele sind die juengste Ausrufung einer ?Zeitenwende? wie andere, aeltere Setzungen von ?Wenden?, die mal mehr, mal weniger plausibel erscheinen. Dazu zaehlen die Wende von 1989 ? zumal im Kontrast mit der Formel von der ?geistig-moralischen Wende? der BRD ein knappes Jahrzehnt davor ?, oder die Verkehrs-, Energie- oder Klimawenden in den vergangenen Jahren. Die Autorinnen und Autoren untersuchen aus interdisziplinaerer Perspektive und unter Einbezug globalgeschichtlicher Fragestellungen den heutigen Umgang mit dem Konstrukt ?Epoche?.
