Clotilde Leguil explores the boundary between "consenting" and "yielding" from a Lacanian standpoint.Starting from the definition Lacan gave to psychical and sexual trauma, this book makes the distinction between the ambiguity of consent and the experience of coercion. Clotilde Leguil refers to the #MeToo movement, campaigns against femicides and Vanessa Springora's book Le Consentement (Consent), elaborating on the various degrees of coercion to demonstrate that desire is not drive and that forcing leaves an indelible mark on the individual. Beyond the legal and contractual approach of consent, this book elaborates on the crucial stakes, both clinical and ethical, that this distinction entails.Lacan and the Question of Consent will be of interest to psychoanalysts and psychoanalytic theorists. It will be relevant for academics and scholars of Lacanian studies, gender studies, feminism and human rights.

Der Begriff der Intuition: Eine Spurensuche in der Philosophie Baruch de Spinozas und C. G. Jungs. (BOETHIANA - Forschungsergebnisse zur Philosophie 200) 202 S. 2024:9 (Kovac, GW) <746-63>
ISBN 978-3-339-13916-0 paper ¥18,543.- (税込) EUR 79.90

Rethinking Employee Resilience: Why Our Current Approach to Worker Burnout is Failing, and How to Fix It. 237 pp. 2025:5 (American Psychological Association, US) <746-454>
ISBN 978-1-4338-4412-6 paper ¥6,432.- (税込) US$ 29.99
Rethinking Employee Resilience is a practical, evidence-based guide to creating workplaces that invest in their workforce - the backbone of every organization. In an era of institutional collapse, workforce resilience isn't a luxury; it's non-negotiable. Burnout has quietly become the new normal. As trust in institutions crumbles and career stability feels like a relic of the past, organizations face a choice: cling to outdated models or redefine their cultures to prioritize human resilience. This book challenges the self-help industry's one-size-fits-all narrative, reframing burnout as a systemic issue embedded within organizational culture. It unfolds in three parts: debunking common burnout myths, redefining employee resilience, and offering tailored 'on-ramps' for organizations of all sizes. Drawing from his work as a clinical psychologist in Afghanistan, where he provided mental health care to thousands of soldiers, to a decade leading mental health initiatives in management consulting, Dr. Dan Pelton has seen how burnout takes root-and knows how to dismantle it.Rethinking Employee Resilience isn't just another leadership manual filled with hollow platitudes. This book rejects the status quo - an unconventional guide for leaders and employees to transform organizational culture, grounded in empirical research, industry insights, and real-world experience.

Transformative Work Design: Synthesis and New Directions. (The SIOP Organizational Frontiers Series) 688 pp. 2025:6 (Oxford U. Pr., US) <746-323>
ISBN 978-0-19-769255-4 hard ¥34,320.- (税込) US$ 160.00
ISBN 978-0-19-769256-1 paper ¥12,870.- (税込) US$ 60.00
How do we create healthy, meaningful, and productive work in the face of hybrid work models, shifting careers, technological advances, an aging workforce, and other such major contemporary changes? Transformative Work Design explores this crucial question by presenting a thorough, evidence-based view of work design. With contributions from 49 highly eminent authors in the field across 25 chapters, it synthesizes research on how work design influences critical outcomes like worker motivation, mental health, well-being, and job performance for individuals and teams. The book also covers key methodologies for studying work design and explores new areas of research. For instance, authors explore how work design can shape identity and personality development, moving beyond the usual focus on wellbeing and performance outcomes. Additionally, the book shifts the traditional emphasis from understanding the outcomes of work design to unpacking the antecedents of work design. Chapters explore how various individual, team, organizational, and global factors shape the way people's work is designed, laying the foundation for understanding how to successfully redesign work. Picking up this perspective, several chapters focus on how to change work design. By discussing 'top down' work redesigns, such as self-managing teams, and 'bottom up' approaches like playful work design and job crafting, pathways to creating better work are identified. A final section highlights critical issues raised by large-scale technological and demographic shifts, such as remote working trends, population aging, and rapid digitalization.

This vital two-volume handbook summarizes current and emerging research and clinical evidence to provide a working knowledge of the contributions of pediatric psychology, developmental-behavioral pediatrics, and developmental science, and promote the integration of these disciplines to improve child and adolescent health and well-being. In a nutshell, pediatric psychology emphasizes fostering children's adaptation in the face of illness and hospitalization; developmental-behavioral pediatrics aims to improve the health of children through an understanding of the biopsychosocial, educational, and cultural influences on them and their families; and developmental science focuses on theoretical and empirical advances in understanding mental, emotional, and social aspects of human development and their underlying and associated processes and contexts. There has been longstanding recognition of the need to more closely unite the three fields. The APA Handbook of Pediatric Psychology, Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics, and Developmental Science aims to deepen communication between these domains by providing an integrative approach to addressing specific issues in child well-being. Chapters in Volume 1 highlight the developmental origins of risk and resilience across early phases of the life course, covering developmental science framing and processes, biopsychosocial systems in development, and social and material contexts of child and adolescent health and well-being. The contributions in Volume 2 focus on clinical applications of developmental science in pediatric psychology and developmental-behavioral pediatrics, discussing family systems and ecological contexts, child developmental contexts and child health conditions, and developmental-behavioral and mental health conditions. The handbook coeditors-in-chief recruited a diverse array of outstanding professionals from developmental science, medicine, and pediatric psychology. This stellar roster prompts trainees, researchers, practitioners, and other professionals to explore new ways to understand and manage child and adolescent health and well-being, and promote deeper interdisciplinary collaborations that can support growth and development.

This book offers experienced practitioners and trainees in psychotherapy and counselling a new, deeply personal and theoretically-grounded perspective on clinical work that integrates existential philosophy and psychotherapy into a relational transactional analysis. The author employs a multidisciplinary perspective grounded in the traditions of Berne's transactional analysis, whilst providing an easily accessible explanation of existential psychotherapy and the existential givens of life. An innovative theory for the development of the adult self is offered that can be used to understand our human search for meaning and the existential life predicaments we all encounter as adults that may not originate from a difficult childhood. Using moving and personal clinical examples from her extensive professional experience as a psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer, the author highlights the different therapeutic skills that can be used when working from this stance, making this a highly practical guide for all practitioners.Whilst predominantly for psychotherapists, counsellors and students on psychotherapy training courses, this will be essential reading for all practitioners working with human beings in groups, education and organisations, as well as those who are new to the principles of existentialism and transactional analysis.

Flett, Gordon L.,
Mattering as a Core Need in Children and Adolescents: Theoretical, Clinical, and Research Perspectives. 303 pp. 2025:4 (American Psychological Association, US) <746-1462>
ISBN 978-1-4338-4278-8 paper ¥16,514.- (税込) US$ 76.99
This book summarizes the psychological research on the concept of mattering in children and adolescents, and outcomes associated with the presence or absence of feelings of being valued by others. Mattering, the felt experience of being valued and necessary to others, is a unique and complex psychological construct. Differences in children's sense of mattering to their family, friends, and significant others predict consequential outcomes at the individual, relationship, and societal levels. Gordon Flett offers important, evidence-based insights from the psychological literature, drawing clear links between a lack of mattering and measures of children's depression, anxiety, suicide risk, aggression and violence. Conversely, he shows how mattering to others is reflected in measures of resilience, adaptability, motivation, and performance. Crucial links are also explored between social marginalization and mattering, and case material is used throughout the book to illustrate key points. The clinical chapters describe mental health interventions that measure and address issues related to children's sense of mattering in family, school, and community contexts.

Frosh, Stephen,
How to be Real: A Survival Guide in Challenging Times. 256 pp. 2025:9 (Verso, UK) <746-1465>
ISBN 978-1-80429-919-7 hard ¥4,783.- (税込) GB£ 16.99
How to be Real tackles one of the most urgent questions: how can we thrive in a world that is so troubling and confusing? We are constantly being told that we must be 'authentic' and 'real' whilst our sense of reality is being undermined, fragmenting our experiences and dividing people from each other. In the face of such dilemmas Frosh argues that gaining a sense of reality requires us to face the complexity of modern life. We must learn to think more clearly and bravely about it, and to allow ourselves to develop a depth of feeling that may often be uncomfortable or even distressing to live with. By working alongside thinkers such as Freud, Winnicott and Klein, Frosh argues that we must look to what connects us and appreciate how authenticity depends on the quality of relationships we form with each other. Consequently, 'how to be real' has political as well as psychological and ethical implications. It is out of such disruptive complexity that human depth and relational integrity arise. Frosh pursues this through an exploration of childhood and the development of the self, of why and how we put up defences against reality, and of what hate means. The book describes how we might turn the ghosts that trouble us into ancestors that enrich our lives. It asks us to be brave enough to seek solidarity with others and, finally, to find the humanity in death.

A big problem of psychology in the tradition of C.G. Jung is that many concepts and orientations are being used by its adherents that are not really compatible with a true psychology because they have their home ground in other orientations.A fundamental principle in psychology is that its views and concepts must ultimately be derived from a rigorous notion of psychology and from the concept of its key metaphor, soul. This book diligently examines a host of diverse psychological stances and concepts in search for this consistent belief, and begins with a thorough elucidation of the unique foundational orientation of Jung's psychology as one crucial and general guidepost. It then goes on to explore topics such as what gives Jungian psychology its uniqueness, synchronicity and the generation of meaning, the lasting significance of James Hillman's achievement in the field of psychology, as well as engaging with works from psychologists such as Robert Romanshyn, Mark Saban and Stanton Marlan. This book will be of great interest to the Jungian community, psychotherapists and psychoanalysts training in Jungian theory and practice, as well as those interested in psychological, theological and philosophical issues.

Psychological Growth After Trauma is a guide to moving away from assumptions about trauma as a simple form of 'psychological damage.' Each chapter promotes an understanding of difficult experiences as learning opportunities that help us attune to the reality of existence and become more at ease with the truths that trigger our anxieties. The book holds close to a phenomenological stance in which understanding emerges through experience and reflection. This is not a book that argues for a model that practitioners would be required to adopt and impose on their clients. Instead, Psychological Growth After Trauma brings insights and explorations together, allowing the reader to build their own framework for understanding.

Why are so many people committed to sports? Why are they so committed? Why do fans remain loyal when this seems illogical and counter-intuitive?The Psychology of Sports Fans explains the intricate psychological foundations of sports fandom, exploring why sports hold such emotional power across cultures and demographics. This book uncovers how sports provide meaning, identity, and community, making them an essential part of human life. The book examines the psychological mechanisms behind sports fandom, including the formation of beliefs, emotional connections, and the role of rituals. It explores how sports fandom satisfies core psychological, social, and cultural needs, drawing parallels between sports and religious devotion. Through detailed analysis, the book reveals how sports beliefs align with the brain's inherent patterns, enhancing fans' sense of satisfaction, comfort, and belonging. It also discusses the impact of cognitive biases, emotional resilience, and the communal aspects of sports, providing a comprehensive understanding of why sports are so captivating and meaningful. This book is different to most commentaries on sport fans, which focus on what fans do rather than why they do it. Presenting examples from Europe and North America, alongside those from developing sports markets such as Australia and Asia, the book explores similarities as well as diversity in fandom, while also considering the impact of newer digital developments in sport. This book brings diverse explanations and cases together to reveal the psychology of sports fans, explaining how sport becomes embedded in the mind while delivering immense meaning and pro-social returns, despite the high investment costs. It will appeal to sports enthusiasts and anyone interested in sports fandom, sport psychology, sport sociology, and sport management.
